3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by graffuturism on Feb 27, 2014 11:07:28 GMT 1, sakyamuni There are some high prices but also some great prices its a mixed bag. The Plan was to keep the work affordable but artists set the price and some are in higher demand and demand more.
Also many of the artists because of the size put alot of work into the pieces to make them standout for such a small size, so many artists asked multiple times to work bigger but setting the size set the tone so some artists put a great amount of detail into their pieces.

3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by sakyamuni on Feb 27, 2014 11:11:40 GMT 1, I understand, I am not trying to blame anyone. I have just found that some artists that I like are priced higher than usual, which I too bad as I like many of their works displayed I am still tempted and have added a few in my wish list...

3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by Feral Things on Mar 1, 2014 13:12:49 GMT 1, I agree that it's a shame that some of the pieces aren't more affordable. It would have been great to have seen more of these proverbially flying off the shelf and onto people's walls like the Sepe pieces did. Does anyone know if the Alëxone and SatOne piece have been uploaded yet? Because pieces disappear from the sales page as soon as they're sold it's hard to know if an artist's work have already been sold or just hasn't been uploaded yet.
Also, when I saw the list of participating artists, I had assumed that it was the Petro below but I'm guessing it's a different Petro. Does anyone know anything about this Petro or have a link to their website? Same with Deams (presumably not the Deams from the Oxygen Thieves and ASK).

When Maya does uploads she emails out notifying everyone that new additions were made to the list. You can also ask her specifically about artists and she will make sure to send you an email right away. The system is a bit rough and with so many artists and work the gallery is doing there best to get everything online asap.
Petro is an emerging Russian artist I am very high on his murals and this is the first time seeing some of his art in a show so its exciting to get an artist like this in the US.

Deams is a Australian painter and part of the AWOL crew with Slicer another artist in the show.

3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by graffuturism on Mar 1, 2014 21:09:05 GMT 1, If anyone else wants some background or more information about an artists feel free to ask here and I can give you some insight, it was tough to post 109 Bios. I can help with that though and also give you maybe a better insight than a Bio could.

3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by graffuturism on Mar 12, 2014 3:14:38 GMT 1, Had a chance to see some of the work yesterday in person was blown away by the amount of pieces and the quality of work in the show. Some of the work in person is impressive. A photographer was shooting the work for a feature and I couldnt stop opening packages took alot longer than expected. BSA should have a post up soon with some great detail shots of the work. Also the page should be finalized the day of the show. Its about 85% uploaded now. Alot of art still coming in now and tomorrow. I know not many of you are in SF but anyone that is stopping by make sure to say hello.

Congratulations for the expo graffuturism! really interesting line-up and great opportunity to follow up some new names that were under my radar. Can you tell a little bit more about the polish artist Pener? Cheers Pener is one of the original Polish artists that started to emerge in the last couple of years. I first covered his work 4 years ago when he was painting on the streets and in abandoned areas. Through him I learned of the work of Nawer, Sainer, Bezt, and the other Polish artists. Early on he was a collaborator with the Etam crew and Sepe painting massive collaborative works that mixed the deconstructive abstract geometry with the figurative work of the polish painters. From Graffiti Pener graduated with an Art degree and also teaches drawing and painting in Poland but still is very active as a painter.
"Bartek Świątecki’s work mixes abstraction and traditional graffiti. High art and youth culture, modernism and skateboarding. His images are based around geometric groupings and angular forms which reference futuristic architectural design. The apparent slickness of Świątecki’s productions is often at odds with the decayed settings the works are placed in. The visual language used in these pieces gives a glimpse in to a brave new world of graffiti and fine art cross over. It’s a world where graffiti writers are as happy to quote from De Stijl as they are Wu Tang." Cedar Lewisohn

3rd installment "A Major Minority" Mirus Gallery, by Feral Things on Mar 15, 2014 10:03:29 GMT 1, I'd love to see some pictures of all the work hung in the gallery, if anyone has any photos? It's nice to be introduced to some interesting new artists; Ino, Thomas Bestvina, Mess and Blaqk were the pick of the artists that I hadn't previously heard about:
