Depends how you look at it.

If on a purely financial basis, then I would suggest that Banksy prints are more likely to hold their value / increase better than a classic car and cost you a lot less to upkeep.

If you look at it as an you only live once scenario, then sell prints that you are getting no enjoyment from in a file and get the car that every day you will look at and make you smile.

And if any happen to be signed rats then come to me first

why did you buy the prints?

I've done the car thing in my yoot! Classic MG's, Peugeot 205GTI's, various Golf GTI's, Mini Cooper S's etc, etc. Done it, seen it, worn the t-shirt and all that. Cars! Cost a f**king futune, always going wrong, require regular tlc, always getting dented by s**t and careless drivers, petrol's well f**king expensive, depreciation in value of vehicle. Right, your Banksy's! Pretty rare, viewing pleasure, very collectible art/artist, slight downside I guess is framing, its not cheap I know, but the upside is values always appreciating especially at the moment. Conclusion is keep the prints, buy a cheap runaround.

I can do something that will make me happy, but I need someone to tell me I can do it, okay, no, keep the Banksy's you don't look at.

I know the feeling Sceptic, an alternative to framing is to place them in portfolio sleeves and stitch them together, saves on framing and makes a lovely rug. Use the money you've saved on framing and buy an old run around. I.e. Keep the art

It's a tough one from a purely financial point of view. Banksy prints, and really all urban art prints, could lose their value at some point (shhh don't tell the Banksy fans they get a bit touchy about this!). I don't know enough about classic cars to be able to say if it's a good investment or not and I've heard that the upkeep can be pretty expensive.

However.........

If you really want the car and it would give you lots of enjoyment then I would say go for it. If it's something you've always wanted then how can you put a price on that? Financially it might not work out - I have no idea- but sometimes in life you just have to go for it and enjoy yourself. One thing's for sure - Banksy prints being stored away in a folder aren't really offering their full 'enjoyment value' so do what makes you happy. This isn't meant to sound morbid at all but you might not be here this time next year (I know that sounds horrible but it's true) so enjoy life.

Obviously it's much easier to give advice when it's not my money I'm discussing but that's just my sixpence worth!

Here in Holland you only live once, sell some Banksy... buy this car and enjoy your life!

Im a car lover, so if you can keep some art and still go for the car!

I would do that, because life is about experiences and feelings, so keep in mind this: you can go for a ride in your dream car, and when you come back home, you still see some art in the walls - that´s the best of the 2 worlds for me

Why not pick out your favourite piece sell the rest buy the car and stick the art you have kept in a frame on the wall.

Could you swap any of the prints over and frame the ones in the portfolio and sell the Banksy's on the wall? This way you'll get to look at some 'new' images and buy the car.
