Glasgow School of Art, by Feral Things on May 23, 2014 20:30:30 GMT 1, Glasgow School of Art has very sadly been gutted by fire today.ย Most importantly, there doesn't appear to have been any loss of life but the building was an architectural gem designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and it seems that a lot of the students work has been destroyed just three weeks before their degree shows.ย GSA has produced an incredibly high number of excellent artists and a lot of Turner prize winners and nominees over the years and I really feel for those affected.
There's more here.

Glasgow School of Art, by Agent Provocateur on May 23, 2014 20:36:36 GMT 1, Damn, that is something that can never b replaced, a big artistic and cultural loss indeed.
But amazing and fortunate no one lost their life... I hope there's no bad news down the road.

What are the procedures with that?
More importantly no one was harmed!

Glasgow School of Art, by johnnyh on May 24, 2014 8:38:08 GMT 1, Possibly ......performance art taken a little too far!!!!
Terrible shame the real problem aside from the immediate students work problem god knows how they will sort that; depending on the damage is how they cope with the repairs or re build of parts and how long they take. I would doubt there is much problem apart from time with any rebuilding repairing of the structure
it allows cuts etc to be implemented etc etc will the arts courses get all the funding they require. Things rarely go backto exactly as the way they were before. Which can be both good and bad. But in these days of budget led education you do have to worry especially when it's the arts as opposed to science or engineering which attracts paying overseas students.
will be interesting
