Insurance Cover, by tomc35 on Jun 6, 2014 9:21:21 GMT 1, Hi,
I have been using the site for a few years, but never really written in.
Recently just bought my own house and sorting out contents insurance, how do you go about judging the value of prints?
I know what I price I purchased them for, but pretty sure they are valued higher now.
I have 4 Harrington prints (Bring The Noise, A Worm in the Suburban Bud, Modern Monarchy & Tardis of Delight)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Insurance Cover, by Trevorm on Jun 6, 2014 11:34:51 GMT 1, I felt I needed some definitive cover for my accumulation recently and got absolutely nowhere with the big company that used to handle my contents insurance - it was like they didn't want the business.
Happy ending: I've gone to Brownhills and deal with one person. You don't need evaluations for anything less than ยฃ10k (I think)
Check out the other threads in Insurances etc

Insurance Cover, by Poster Bob on Jun 6, 2014 12:42:04 GMT 1, I just called Brownhill to ask for a quote for the "Up-and-Coming Art Collectors" Insurance policy for collections under 50,000 GBP. The conversation took about 15 minutes and I was quoted a little under 300 which seems very reasonable but that of course will vary depending on your circumstances.

Insurance Cover, by retrome on Jun 6, 2014 14:28:59 GMT 1, I work on marketing at Brownhills and so pleased to hear so many of you are with us.
Gunny, sorry to hear you left. Do give us a call when you are due for renewal and ask for me (Alex). I will see if we can get you a better quote.
For everyone else who is interested our website is loveartinsurance.co.uk or drop me a PM or call me on 020 8353 8918.
Our product is unique in that you do not need to advise us when you buy or sell pieces. You just need to ensure you keep a record of your collection and do not go over an agree limit. We do also offer cover for smaller collections and we can even combine this with your contents insurance.

Insurance Cover, by chrispa on Jun 6, 2014 14:53:17 GMT 1, I receommend Anthony Wakefield and I know a number of people on this site use him. www.anthonywakefield.com/ I have this as a special art insurance on top of my regular house contents. For valuations I have used www.valuemystuff.com as a cheap way to get a valuation

Insurance Cover, by kendo on Jul 8, 2014 14:06:20 GMT 1, I'm looking to insure my collection (art only) - is the general consensus to go with Brownhills?
Is there any 'small print' that you need to be aware of?
Any advice, would be great. Cheers.

Insurance Cover, by brut on Jul 17, 2014 13:25:06 GMT 1, I have finally sorted out my art insurance & found Brownhills great to deal with & very reasonable too. It does seem a little strange that buying prints over the past 10 years has now required me to need this insurance due to rising values. I think its the first time that I have bought stuff that has gained value & it also shows that you can't go wrong if you buy what you like.

Would love to know what you consider as 'reasonable' I've been looking to change insurers!

(cant argue with that) but she also told me that if i didnt have a receipt or if it wasnt registered with someone then i wouldnt be insured (again cant argue with that). But what happens to pieces that i got on the secondary market that dont come with COAs and i cant get a receipts for? For example iv got a few dran 100j drawings some with COA some without but nowhere to register them Does that mean im insured for only some?
Any help info would be more than appreciated as im currently scaired to hang most of my art due to no insurance lol

Insurance Cover, by Deleted on Jul 17, 2014 17:06:32 GMT 1, My insurance is that all of my art is in my bedroom, and I when I go away I leave a polaroid of me holding a loaded gun sitting on my bed next to six loose bullets. It apparently gets the message across.
