Graffiti Prints Different Strokes NYC Group Show, by bullysonzx10r on Jul 19, 2014 21:01:24 GMT 1, So I just unpacked my prints and I'm even more excited about them than I was before.
I picked up En Pointe, because my girlfriend really liked it, and we have been waiting in line for nearly 2 hours, and -- it's just an amazing piece. I'm a pretty big Whatson fan, so it wasn't hard to convince me to drop the cash.
I also picked up the Beejoir 20 spot print -- Probably my favorite of the three I picked up. I'm actually someone who likes the Hirst Spot work, but I think this print does a great job of paying homage, as well as saying a little "Fuck you" as well. The colors on this are awesome -- would have picked up the 70 Spot if I didn't have so many large pieces that needed to be framed in the flat folder.
Lastly I got really lucky and was able to pick up a low number of the One Small Step print by Whatson as well. This was in the racks and I was nervous the entire time I was in line that someone would scoop it out. Giancarlo let it go for an incredibly reasonable price (Literally less than 100-150GBP than I've seen anywhere.) When I was checking out, he said to me "I'm a print shop, I'm not trying to make a bunch of cash flipping a sold out print." I am really impressed by this print in person and very happy that I was able to snag it.
Aside from that, It was a little confusing when the doors opened, but I don't know how many limited release events (Art, Clothing, Shoes, Electronics) that have ever gone incredibly smooth. For what it's worth, it would have been great to have price sheets, it would have been great to have red stickers below sold pieces, and it would have been great to have had a little more organization. But -- this is a gallery in Brooklyn, hosting a show from a Print shop in London, with artists from all over the world. So -- It was fucking awesome.
Giancarlo and GP couldn't have been nicer.
If you are in the NYC area and have a chance to go see the show. Do it. The pieces that are up are impressive.

Here is the item link: 121389255508
Last night they were asking $499.
I really hope no one buys this. As ds said, people still have a shot with the online release.

That type of flipper pisses me off. Many mondoites made me miss Dot Dot Dot Handgun on the release.

Graffiti Prints Different Strokes NYC Group Show, by Deleted on Jul 20, 2014 0:06:31 GMT 1, Also I take it souled out studios and graffiti prints are some sort of loose partnership? Mental note: if one releases something the other will release some different versions soon after the event, to make you all warm and fuzzy about the money you just spent ...

Graffiti Prints Different Strokes NYC Group Show, by fung430 on Jul 20, 2014 0:12:02 GMT 1, The show was great last night! Whatson's pieces were great in person and I am really liking his print. En Pointe is actually becoming my favorite of my pick ups...
Is the GP team staying till the end of the show? or they are done after this weekend and the utbnyc guys will close it out?

Graffiti Prints Different Strokes NYC Group Show, by cerulean on Jul 20, 2014 0:21:09 GMT 1, Last night's show was truly amazing. Very happy with my prints & thrilled that I was able to get the collaborative one! Had a great time meeting and hanging with other forum members on line - made the 3 hour wait a pleasure! Thank you to Giancarlo & GP for bringing such wonderful artists here and to Joe at UTBNYc for being such a wonderful host!

Graffiti Prints Different Strokes NYC Group Show, by Deleted on Jul 20, 2014 1:55:19 GMT 1, Forgive me for asking, but what's Mondo? Mondo does alternative movie posters that are limited in number; are a heavy target for flippers. EB/Mondo have become synonymous as most Mondo drops end up being resold immediately on EB for profit in extremely large numbers. The same has happened for Obey.
