Sell sell sell, buy buy buy, by Deleted on Jun 25, 2014 19:38:29 GMT 1, its cock, but an interestrng take on things - sorta like technical analysis but for the art lot- and like TA, all the maths in the world mean nothing , except the chance to react quicker to things that other users of TA will pick up and act on. If that makes any sense.
anyone who tells you that algos make money are delusional . says the man who lost millions ( of someone elses money )

Then I guess I should take your opinion with about 8Mil worth of salt.

Sell sell sell, buy buy buy, by bullysonzx10r on Jun 26, 2014 1:26:19 GMT 1, The example they gave on banksy don't strike me as concerning to my potential collection. Art collecting seems to be broken down to a few different categories
Assholes like me: We have a little disposable income, but coming up with 20-30K to put down on a piece would take real planning.
Assholes who are trying to show they have money: These people have a good deal of money and want a Basquiat or a Picasso because Jay-Z has a song about it. They're going to spend in the 50-250K range, but nothing serious enough to be in the 1%
Serious collectors who literally have nothing better to do with their money: This is where you find people who are buying millions of dollars worth of art. It's not expensive to them, but it looks pretty amazing to have a 30 Mill piece sitting in your home on the Hamptons that you only visit 2-3 weekends a year.
I feel like the middle category is the category that would be buying Banksy originals, and for whatever reason, they are not interested enough.
However, the Assholes like me, who would love to own a Banksy, can't even dream of realistically saving several hundred thousand dollars or pounds.
I.E. The market I'm fighting with over Banksy pieces is booming. The middle/upper markets may be pausing for Banksy right now.
