ART | History <> 9/19 <> Miami, FL, by sin on Jul 25, 2014 16:21:59 GMT 1, The first of 2 exhibits to help raise awareness and funds for the effort to reopen Miami Marine Stadium and preserve Miami's architectural and artistic history.
www.marinestadium.org
The show consists of two parts. - Exhibit of limited edition prints and fine art works by participating artists. The entire gallery proceeds are being donated to Friends of Miami Marine Stadium through Kondoit's $500,000 pledge to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This pledge is matched by a private donor, so every dollar raised is actually $2 of impact.
- An informational exhibit of artifacts from the stadium, artwork created using elements from the stadium or materials that were part of the project. Included are the Miami Dade Anti Graffiti Zone flag by Clandestine Culture that caused such a stir on Instagram and a spray suit painted and signed by RISK. This portion of the exhibit will educate you on the historic value of the building through both its official and unofficial uses.
- Each artist painted a mural at the stadium in its current open state. - An edition of prints have been created from the documentation of that mural. - Each artist created a work of art, inspired by the mural. - Each artist gave us the opportunity to make a limited edition run of that artwork. In most cases all three will be on display and available for purchase.
100% of the profits after artist split and costs goes to Friends of Miami Marine Stadium. It's our distinct pleasure to put this show together and thank you for your support. A PDF will be available prior to the show and if you are in the area there is a collectors Preview on 9/19.
This September event coincides with our September painting session. Our second and final show will be during Art|Basel Miami Beach and feature original works by the entire roster.
