The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by sin on Aug 8, 2014 4:52:03 GMT 1, This piece by Gerard Ellis
At the time I had the money, just didn't consider myself an 8,000 art buyer. I kick myself regularly. This piece was the piece of art that made art more of a passion that a simple enjoyment for me. If will be mine.

Other that that, I kind of regret not picking up one of the How & Nosm monoprints from Pace but only a little.

Did you all get a lumpy feeling in the base of your stomachs the day you realized they'd all sold out?

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by Ponyboy Curtis on Aug 8, 2014 14:28:01 GMT 1, I should have kept the email from my wife in 2004 or so saying "I'm not having that hanging on my wall" when I suggested spending a couple of grand on 3-4 signed Banksy. Silly cow. (and silly me for not trusting my instinct).

She will of course, totally deny saying such a thing and if you bring it up, it will have been you who ignored her good advice to buy them.

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by thriftypix on Aug 8, 2014 15:07:54 GMT 1, Ravi Zupa at Black Book Gallery.
Once I saw the email announcing the online sale (about two hours after it was sent ), all of the pieces I really loved were gone. A handful of others were added over the next couple of days, but none really grabbed me or else were just too expensive. Ah well, next time.

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by daveart on Aug 8, 2014 18:59:37 GMT 1, we all know Banksy was cheaper back in the day.. mind numbing opportunities were missed.. of course.. are you sure you would have kept it when it went from 200GBP to 1,000 GBP .. or would you have sold out. i wonder how many are really left with the original owner to have gone from 40GBP to 5,000 GBP or what have you. pretty rare i would guess. anyway, one moment was kind of funny moments for me ..
-A big gallery in London - when inquiring on Banksy maybe 10 years ago.. sent me a multi paragraph email as to why Banksy was not worth the investment and they were steering their clients clear of this impending debacle.. umm.. thank you for the staid advice .. so glad i didnt buy that signed banksy i was looking at..

I think there are quite a few members on here who bought at original prices.. I met a guy who split from his misses back then in London, then he got his own apartment and wanted to buy some prints. He went into pow, liked the images and bought quite a few signed including barcode, he still has them i think. Back then a few must have been thrown out with the rubbish? How long did his first print releases take to sell out?

Yeesh.
I went to that unauthorised Banksy show in NYC around December of 2007; that was right around when I first started getting into him, I was 20. Their prices were insane, even at the time, with nothing below $5,000 for unsigned and $12,000 for signed. I think they were just being obnoxious.
Apparently Bethlehem was happening at the same time, but I definitely didn't have 2-3k to spend being in college. Literally didn't have 2-3k haha.

An unsigned GWB for 3k about a year ago. A few years ago I passed on an Mujer Fatal HPM on wood by shep, for 3k. A passed on the elms lesters Jose parla screen prints which I instantly regretted. I'm sure there is more.

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by tartarus on Aug 9, 2014 9:39:21 GMT 1, Signed GWB at original cost from Art Republic in Brighton because I didn't want to go into my overdraft. I try not to think about that too much. It'll get better…. Eventually No it won't! it only gets worse!
Flying copper CANVAS from art republic in Brighton also. £250!!! cash in pocket and decided to pass as would have probably damaged it on the 2 hour train ride home!
Im sure id have ended up skint and selling it within 6 months, but just can't let it go!!

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by daveart on Aug 9, 2014 16:31:27 GMT 1, and of course the other side of the transaction is there as well. "the piece you sold because you made $200 in 8 months… AND NOW REALIZE you gave up $10,000 or more over the next six years" this is almost worse than the 'i could have bought it when…' this is "I had it on my wall and let it go ' pain…
I don't sell a lot of art … but i have sold a few pieces that i would really love to have back (at original sales price of course!)

The piece you regret not buying is.........................., by Deleted on Aug 11, 2014 22:12:30 GMT 1, So lots of regrets not buying Banksy prints when prices were low.
Will people have the same regrets in five years time when not buying Banksy prints at todays prices ?
Warhol prices are high because it's alledged some mega rich guy went round buying them all up and manipulâtes the market in Warhols.
