Ben Naz- One Last Ride, by jayTown on Sept 8, 2014 16:51:07 GMT 1, Hi guys,
I know his work has divided opinion on here but the guys had a pretty rough time of it with his health and would be great to support this exhibition of his. If anyone else fancies going might be a good excuse to grab a beer.

If anyone else fancies going might be a good excuse to grab a beer. [...] Often, when the art isn't strong enough to hold its own, supporters will clutch at straws and argue the artist is "a really nice guy" — as if that makes the work itself more deserving.
But this is the first time I've witnessed a call for compassion being used to help promote a show. "Please attend, for pity's sake. The artist has been quite poorly."

Ben Naz- One Last Ride, by met on Sept 9, 2014 6:45:53 GMT 1, The guy has terminal cancer. And you sound a right t**t. Raising health matters on a public forum to encourage a higher exhibition turnout is inherently patronising to the artist. An artist worthy of the title wants people to attend their shows on the strength of their work, and their work alone, not out of guilt because the artist is unwell.
That said, I was unaware of the terminal nature of Ben Naz's illness. It does change things. Less regarding whether opinions are reasonably held, and more in terms of the appropriateness of expressing those opinions at this time on this platform. Despite being sincere, my initial comments under the circumstances came across as callous. For this, I apologise.

Ben Naz- One Last Ride, by Lroy on Sept 9, 2014 10:08:06 GMT 1, I am not subscribing to your comment Met . " unwell " , what a world ! You should had not to discuss ( or try to explain why or why not ) about that , I mean to justify your mistake or ignorance about Ben ' s illiness. Your apologize would be enough and it is a great thing , thanks. In France, we say " we don't shoot on the ambulance " ... Just a bit of humility. Anyway, you don't like Ben Naz artworks, we know it now. Art is heart also. And Ben is ione of the the best stenciler artist at the moment. Not more, not less. Sorry for my English.

Support the arts, support a fellow human being... Nothing more was asked.

Ben Naz- One Last Ride, by Black Apple Art on Sept 18, 2014 0:23:04 GMT 1, Ben is a true soldier and quite a talent. His remarkable courage and drive in the face of his tragic situation is only a fraction of what makes him such an inspiration. He has been the very definition of a rebel urban artist doing controversial street work, risking his freedom and often his safety doing so in such a corrupt and volatile environment. Having had the pleasure of working directly with Ben on several projects, I can say that he truly an amazing person and I have been inspired by him immeasurably. Ben's work, as with all art, is of course very subjective but the quality of him as a person is undeniable by any measure.

Ben Naz- One Last Ride, by jayTown on Sept 18, 2014 8:10:01 GMT 1, I'll be going for sure. He's a great stencil artist and a great bloke.
Planning on probably heading here and then heading over to Westbank for the Pez show.
