STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY, by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 21:28:17 GMT 1, I don't see how flipping makes any difference.
The whole art world and market revolves around flipping and it's done on a bigger scale by dealers and auction houses.
The mega prices that Banksy stuff sells for art auction. Is down to flipping and I doubt that he gets to see any of the profit.
At the same time people rave about record prices at auction.
If people don't like flippers then just don't buy from them.

STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY, by Nick on Oct 24, 2014 21:33:29 GMT 1, HOLD UP.
PB means print buddies??
Everytime i have read that in the last couple of years on here i have thought 'pro bono', like ahhh i cant get it on release so someone did me the honour free of charge, with no additional cost.
But in truth we have people describing each other as print buddies. hahahaha how motherf**king adorable!!

STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY, by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 22:44:19 GMT 1, I read many posts here which I refrain from commenting on, and the whole flipping thing has been one of these. I first signed up here purely to check out what people were buying and selling. I have bought nothing as yet and sold nothing. I have kept coming back – and at the risk of making a complete arse of myself even made all sorts of comments……. why? Because there are people on here who have brains the size of planets, who are super intelligent, supportive, helpful, in short people who have a certain amount of integrity (and that wasn't a word I learnt in the classroom). I even read every IS thread comment, despite calls for it to close, and learnt a lot about the whole middle east situation – becoming more informed, when the BBC tell you nothing, and most people like me know sweet FA. Also the whole SNP thing … it was possible to agree to disagree here, and get to know – in a civil way, what others think…. We actually had democracy! The give aways people have held have been exceptionally generous, and there are many good folk who sell at cost….that in it-self told me something. Flippers for what it's worth have done me a favour. The result of making prints unaffordable - by reselling at prices that I would never pay has made me learn more about other artists - which I have in part learnt about here. For example, why buy an over priced flipped print when you could buy an original from someone like Carl Cashman (not that I have, but you get my drift). The 50 quid art thread has been great – introducing people to loads of new artists and galleries. Art is such a broad church, that the flippers can keep their wares as far as I'm concerned, and if I don't like the personal point scoring and exchange of insulting stuff people write, I go to a different thread or log out! Simple! Oh and I almost forgot, checking out other peoples music….getting introduced to stuff I've never heard before….I will contribute a bit here myself shortly. Phew! That’s blown away the cobwebs. I enjoyed your post so much that I will retire the Les Mis video, in your honor. That's the biggest compliment I can give someone I don't always read people very well, and don't always think that email is the best format for communication. A lot gets lost - including humor. I wrote from the heart - my thanks and enthusiasm for this forum. It genuinely saddens me, if people find this condescending.

STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY, by chitownhero on Oct 24, 2014 22:51:14 GMT 1, For every high-demand release that is a flippable piece- inside hand-outs will make little to no difference. A true flip is a piece that will sell, regardless of the price (within reason) in due time.
I do appreciate the positive communal vibes, however.

Although I can't speak for Fed, I suspect that's just his type of humor.

I thought it was thoughtful and from the heart. I quite enjoyed it! . I was not, and am not, being sarcastic. sorry if it came across that way, but as you said, tone of a post can be lost when typed out

What I wrote is condescending. The only excuse I can offer is that I spend a chunk of my day speaking to clients /customers that have absolutely no practical common sense what so ever. As a consequence, I then unintentionally continue to speak to everyone else as if they are thicker than mince. Thanks for pointing it out. I do like this forum. I've collected my toys up, and put the wheels back on the pram now.

STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY, by Deleted on Oct 28, 2014 15:56:32 GMT 1, I sometimes wonder if some of the galleries are nothing more than flippers churning out editions and creating a buzz around some artists just to milk the collectors and buyers.
