If people want something then they are already seeking it themselves. Announcing it on here just opens it up to chancers and profiteers.

i disagree.
A seller announcing it on here themselves (which is the case in this instance, despite you missin it) is an attempt to get the highest price for their art.
A board member announcing an auction kn here is an attempt to help other board members find a work they might be looking for but missed.
I am not sure what you mean by a chancer. However, this forum is about discovery for some of us, so in that case for those of us that are discovering, i guess we are "chancers."
profiteers, generqlly don't look for things on ebay as they generally sell for current market values and appreciate slowly over time. Profiteers are helped by drop info and tips, not ebay listings.
