A CONVERSATION WITH FAILE @ NEUEHOUSE NYC WEDNESDAY 12/10, by Hairbland on Dec 10, 2014 15:29:39 GMT 1, Agree, who cares what he has to say. It is like listening to an actor talk about politics. I disagree.
We have the ability to decipher what people say, and while some actors might seem not so smart some are and have an opportunity for a larger platform. Leonardo's recent speech at the UN regarding climate control was spot on, and undoubtably got a few more ears because of him being an actor. And while he may have had more supermodels than I could imagine, he's been driving a Prius since day one so he seems to walk the talk.
Doing one thing doesn't mean they can't be knowledgable about other things. Whatever one thinks about Kanye West, he was obviously aware enough to use KAWS for his artwork while KAWS was still for early adopters. Just means he has some awareness, and some taste. Pharrell was also an early adopter of KAWS, hiring him for commissions. This no doubt helped in KAWS' development.
Swizz is probably the moderator in this talk, and seems to be genuinely into the art. He's into a variety of scenes and will also help draw a crowd, and help with the further crossover of street art.

A CONVERSATION WITH FAILE @ NEUEHOUSE NYC WEDNESDAY 12/10, by Harrington FAN on Dec 10, 2014 19:51:05 GMT 1, just saying, the energy used to produce a prius is worse for the environment over the life of a car then buying a 1 year old fuel car. I do agree being a spokesperson for a "cause" is very helpful. Politics is not the same as a "cause" though. Should people listen to Taylor Swifts opinion on who to vote for to be president? Fuck i hope not. Does not deserve the platform. Should they listen to Brad Pitt talk about endangered muskrats, sure.
Kanye west is horrible. He and his wife may signal the ultimate demise of mankind in to a complete moron state. Using him in any story makes my case stronger. No one should listen to Kanye West, about anything, except for the benefits of dropping out of school, writting a song while recovering from a car accident, etc. Actually like a few ow his albums, but he is a total jacka$$.
KAWS has been big for a long time. In 2003 he sold a sculpture for 400k according to wiki. That's not exactly early if Kanye collaborated in 2009.
Just my opinion. My opinion is as useless as Swizz comments. So please ignore them.

I do agree being a spokesperson for a "cause" is very helpful. Politics is not the same as a "cause" though. Should people listen to Taylor Swifts opinion on who to vote for to be president? f**k i hope not. My opinion is as useless as Swizz comments. So please ignore them. Any nuance you may have is lost by starting off with "just saying". Should people listen to who Taylor Swift says to vote for? Depends on her case, and whom she may be targeting - if she's into womens' rights, saving the environment, against big banking and such and her target audience is 18-24 year olds who would otherwise not vote then yes. Should people listen to her if she tells her peers to get off their asses and vote, and perhaps works actively to do such - absolutely. Just because you may hate her music or her doesn't immediately dismiss her. I can't stand Barbra Streisand's music but she's been one of the more active fundraisers for the Democrats in the US.
While I agree with you as to the vacuous state of Kim Kardashian, her impact on mankind over time will be minimal. The KAWS piece sold in Japan in 2003 was an anomaly as far as KAWS' career was concerned at that time (you could still buy prints for $100) and other than the Wiki reference, and articles sourcing Wiki, I've not found much info on it - I do know he hit that mark in 2014 at auction on a large sculpture. I stand by Kanye being an early adopter, or an adopter helping take KAWS mainstream.
Not sure what Brad Pitt's done for muskrats but I know he's done quite a bit for low income housing.
Nothing wrong with your opinions...everyone's entitled to have them. But I like to think an art forum should be a bit more enlightened, there's enough opinions, snark, and everyday bs in the comments sections pretty much everywhere else. Just takes a bit more effort.

A CONVERSATION WITH FAILE @ NEUEHOUSE NYC WEDNESDAY 12/10, by Harrington FAN on Dec 11, 2014 4:11:51 GMT 1, I think Taylor swifts music is quality. It's not so simple that if she chooses a specific belief that I agree with that she is somehow validated in speaking on the topic.
Show on HBO "newsroom" is on its final season and talking about the ethical pitfalls of this exact evolution in our culture. Crowd sourced reporting. Unqualified people doing jobs. Great watch.
As for political parties, well it's going to be damn near impossible for any party to represent anything rational. Statistically impossible that either party, always taking an opposing opinion of each topic, to ever represent a creative minds outlook on life. I'm pro gay marriage but don't believe in perpetual welfare. I'm all for decriminalizing pot and pro choice but firmly believe in small govt. what's a person to do? Just sign up for a side and let them ascribe a belief system?
if democrats stand for low income housing as a social motivator, hatred of the banks that help me finance my small company and give me my mortgage, and babs gives them money, Count Me Out.
Fyi only prez I ever voted for was a democrat, so everyone save any rants about that please.
they are trying to fill seats with swizz on this one and its poor. We are not talking lou reed here.
Not sure why this evolved In to such topics but I still vote "NOโ
" on this round table with the Patrick's and swizz.
You know what, fck it, waive it in. Bring in Kim and Kanye. Bieber. Wierd Al and E! Network to broadcast it.
