Serious Art Storage, by sin on Dec 22, 2014 16:43:02 GMT 1, The flat files are full, I have a 3rd bedroom that was meant to be an office which is now where all the framed / canvas / panel pieces go that arent on the walls. 1. this is getting a bit out of hand 2. im concerned about causing condition issues.
Does anyone store work outside their home? If so, is a simple air conditioned storage facility ok? Down here we have storage facilities that specialize in fine art storage, but the prices... woooh.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Serious Art Storage, by kbfrombk on Dec 22, 2014 17:36:55 GMT 1, I wonder what would be the problem if you loaded a standard storage locker -- from a decent, climate-controlled, insured place -- with a couple flat files or fireproof cabinets?
Insurance issues if the fine art isn't stored at a particular-level location??
Good question sin!

alas went don't have that much in the uk.
tricky situation sin... move perhaps ... ? take it with you ? but then you'd miss the sun , i know i would ... but it is sunny every day.... it began to drive me mad when i worked over there.
jb ? the other side of the land may advise - think he's in .... AZ.

Serious Art Storage, by Deleted on Dec 23, 2014 0:01:03 GMT 1, Depending on the level of your work/collection, I know some collectors who lease their work to restaurants etc. but these are MAJOR works, large and very spendy.
However, it may be a viable business for ya if they're insured. Staging, rentals etc... Otherwise I'm out of ideas, and almost out of space in my place too.

Serious Art Storage, by SW20 on Dec 23, 2014 20:04:07 GMT 1, There are storage facilities that can deal specifically for Art tends to be pricey though but would be well worth it if your in a temperature humidity type region. just re read and noticed you had a price issue with one.
In which case if you look at a normal storage facility with a/c etc there is the breakdown possibility but how does that risk compared to your home is the risk bigger or similar?

Serious Art Storage, by mandingo on Dec 28, 2014 18:33:00 GMT 1, All art work should be stored at 45-60 per cent relative humidity a decent art storage place should state that being down in Florida where humidity can reach 100 per cent quite easily . I know gander and white offer art storage and importantly there warehouse is hurricane proof .
