Jose Parla Studio Visit, by yapsey on Feb 23, 2015 15:09:57 GMT 1, That's an incredible studio space but am guessing he tidied it up for the shots, no artist studio should ever be that clean. Micallef's studio looks semi-psychotic compared to this, am sure there is a stinking room lurking in Jose's studio somewhere. I haven't been on here much these past few years but there used to be lots of love for Parla here, maybe those old members have left? Seems very quiet on the Neate and Parla front here. Funny you should mention the lack of mess.
These three spring to mind:
Anthony Micallef:
Lucian Freud:
Francis Bacon:

Jose Parla Studio Visit, by smallbylo on Feb 23, 2015 16:18:57 GMT 1, I feel that he deserves the best and all the honors and recognition in the world, cause I always felt his pieces amazing... but I see this pictures and I can't help feeling a little... Shoked?... Unless he is planning a gallery or museum!
Maybe Matt Small needs some of his m2...

Jose Parla Studio Visit, by disdig1 on Feb 23, 2015 16:26:52 GMT 1, KAWS studio is very similar, extremely clean. I don't see that as a bad thing though, they just must love to be in control of their space.

Jose Parla Studio Visit, by twist65 on Feb 23, 2015 18:10:52 GMT 1, Yeah breathtaking studio, would love to spend a bit of time in there.. but there's no way he works that clean, I'm sure he can afford a bit of help tidying up and washing his brushes though..
Another messy studio posted on Basts instagram the other day, love this shot =]

Interesting even if Parla's studio feels more like a showroom.

Thats why his work is soo messy, he finishes a picture then uses it as flooring for a few months, and then we buy it from him. Good business, and i'm sure it helps keeps the heating bill down, so quite green too

Jose Parla Studio Visit, by kendo on Feb 23, 2015 20:17:22 GMT 1, Fantastic insight to the man at work. In the blurb it does say:
"When Parlรก Studios hosts an event or wants to more formally display works of art, by repainting the floors and adjusting the wall configuration, the studio quickly transforms into a clean, curated gallery of Josรฉโs work and process"
So it can double-up as a gallery but I get the impression that behind the pivoting walls is where all the mess is!

Bacon's was a mess alright, he use to throw so many works away. Read a few books on him, a bit of a character to say the least. I think parlas previous studio was really messy I think he's gone past prints now with all the installations and works he's been selling, so the elms prints Could have been his last?

Jose Parla Studio Visit, by Hairbland on Feb 24, 2015 13:23:51 GMT 1, this is his previous studio/studios. So yes it's fair to say this studio seems a lot tidier! ]
This is the lower floor of my building, he rented it for his first NYC gallery show in Chelsea to paint. Still have scribbles on the walls.
