Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Schrödinger's Chat on Mar 11, 2015 9:21:42 GMT 1, Morning
I realise this is a seriously old article (2006) but I'd never read it myself. I was actually really surprised to read Charlie Brookers opinion on Banksy and also that he seems to ignore or be unaware of the Dark side of Disney, which is well documented.
I'm a big fan of Charlie, loved Nathan Barley (a lot of the observations from this series have since become reality) but if he is being serious in this article then I think he has completely misunderstood Banksy's take on the world.
As an acerbic social commentator I thought he would have been a fan of Banksy and his sense of humour and his commentary. I guess you never can tell, perhaps in the nearly 10 years since he has changed his opinion.

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by mrblast on Mar 11, 2015 9:37:11 GMT 1, I like Brooker and actually found that article quite funny. The art world is an easy target though so it's not as if he's provided a cutting edge acerbic commentary there.
Brooker himself also seems to have become more like the people he was criticising over the years....

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Dungle on Mar 11, 2015 9:40:28 GMT 1, Brooker just says what's needed to get attention. Some of his social commentary is very good. I love this comment:-

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Schrödinger's Chat on Mar 11, 2015 9:52:20 GMT 1, This did make me laugh:
Wham! The message hits you like a lead bus: America ... um ... war ... er ... Disney ... and stuff. Wow. In an instant, your worldview changes forever. Your eyes are opened. Staggering away, mind blown, you flick v-signs at a Burger King on the way home. Nice one Banksy! You've shown us the truth, yeah?

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Dr Plip on Mar 11, 2015 10:09:57 GMT 1, 2006. How time moves forward and all that. I wonder if his opinion has changed since then?
I like his work though. Anyone else think Charlie Brooker looks a little like Laurence Fishburne in the article photo?

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Deleted on Mar 11, 2015 10:16:55 GMT 1, its perfectly acceptable to pick and choose the best bits of Bnasky and Brooker- and brooker is right on this.CB article is from 2006- things have gone downhill since then
Banksy has produced some utter shite, but we fail to recognise it. what was a cheap one liner image with a short shelf life , about Kapital and imperialism is now revered because of its value

Banksy vs Brooker 2006, by Deleted on Mar 11, 2015 12:09:40 GMT 1, Brooker is a writer and I guess some sort of satirist.
I thought his Black Mirror was crap.
Brooker could have written a similar article about tate modern and all the rubbish that clique exhibits courtesy of the taxpayer.
