When social media can ruin a reputation, by Dr Plip on Apr 17, 2015 22:08:55 GMT 1, Periodically, I do a quick Google or Twitter search for Banksy. It's simply mind blowing how many stencil images are attributed to him. In many cases, the artist's name is right there next to the image too. People see a stencil image, they automatically think Banksy. Even the press and media do it. It's a hell of a thing he's managed. Not always a good thing, but it's certainly impressive how (in the eyes of the casual observer) he's become the creator of all things stencilled.

When social media can ruin a reputation, by jonnyx on Apr 17, 2015 22:27:23 GMT 1, The idiocy of Instagram makes 'banksy' a proprietary eponym (like Xerox, Durex or hoover). It seems to me a hipster with a camera phone and a social media account makes the world a more stupid place. Anyone remember Nathan barley and the prophetic "rise of the idiots"?

Alls fair in politics.
As for ruining a reputation.
Banksy has been steadily losing credibility for a while now including since his big donation to the Labour party.

Oh dear,, his big donation? are you referring to the canvas he donated to Ken Livingstons campaign for mayor of London in 2007/08 which went to auction but exceeded the amount for anonymous donations so they could not except the money. yeah that killed Banksys cred,,lol

When social media can ruin a reputation, by Lroy on Apr 19, 2015 9:00:24 GMT 1, Yes FЯ, there is long time now that his pic ( without the English flang and Unic ) is attributed to Banksy, about 2 years ago , we already see this stencil with Banksy # As said our master Doctor Dr Plip , there is a lot on Instagram , on twitter or on facebook who post pics saying it's a banksy ( as this kid counting as followers ) ... Go on Ig, and type bansky in search by # , you will be impressed !
For a lot Banksy is a maker of stencils, so when they see a stencil ( as Jps style per example ) , they say : " BANKSY !!! " I made a screenshot for you : before, this stencil of Amy was this one ( we find the kid too every 3 pics too! Incredible ! The Fake with the kids too , etc, etc... and a lot of JPs ) ... Social+Kid+Media+stencil = Banksy for them

Yes the one which Banksy put a 75 thousand pounds reserve on and which sold for more than the allowed 120 thousand pounds so the Labour party accepted that amount.

Coincidence Jo Brooks is a Labour party lobbyist.
It all smells of nepotism.
