Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Deleted on Jun 10, 2015 9:01:33 GMT 1, Re. sale threads.
Is it absolutely a requirement for the odd sale thread to be worded with arrogance / almost contempt for prospective buyers?, we all know there are certain so called 'Timewasters & Tyrekickers' knocking about on forums etc. but every business and every trader gets those people, not just here. If something is offered at a thousand pounds plus for instance then thats a lot of money for anyone remember (not to mention when a Banksy original or edition canvas is offered!!!), granted some can afford to get it finance and some can even pay out of the wallet but most will have to save for it so it does no harm to be civil.
No tyrekickers / BS offers / Timewasters and all that is just wrong and rude, if sellers dont want that then put the thing in a fkin auction and pay a fee.

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by overend on Jun 10, 2015 9:23:43 GMT 1, I'm sure I'm not alone in ignoring those type of sales threads. Likewise those who just give the bare details such as For Sale- (insert name of artist but usually Parla).

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Forbidden Love on Jun 10, 2015 13:05:51 GMT 1, yea especially if you dont have any idea what sort of price. how are you going to know if your a time waster?
eg that thread of the banksy canvas - who would want to message what they think is a high offer to be replied back with a s**tty response

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Fะฏ on Jun 10, 2015 13:30:58 GMT 1, Sellers are required to enter the price information on the listing in separate boxes. Sometimes people do not post prices due to getting told what to and what not to charge.
The sales board here is very busy so hard to police, but every listing should contain all the relevant information. If it does not then the seller should expect lots of questions. It is in their interest to post the correct info.

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by 11 on Jun 10, 2015 13:58:43 GMT 1, I think it i probably more fundamental than that - it is the basic courtesy of manners and politeness, regardless of buying, selling or even just tyre-kicking we should all have some basic principles that ensure we try and get along with people rather than trying to score points, and that sometimes means we need to put in a bit of effort.
I personally find these type of Sales threads very ignorant and somewhat offensive. I think there is a serious character flaw for those that think they can throw up 5 words, and because it is on a for sale board don't need to say anything else......and then go off the deep-end that people have questions.......or almost farcically, take offence that people are offended by their very offensive advertisement
A lack of any courtesy and information in a sales thread should just be ignored and left to sink quicker than a lead brick IMO

It is in their interest to post the correct info. Where does it state in the rules that are required to enter pricing information? Watching people trying to police rules that don't exist is painful to watch.
To quote our overlord:
" 10. In Sales threads you are asked to post as much info as possible. Suggested minimum information:-
Price, Size, Condition, Edition, Photos, Location.
We recognise that this isnโt always possible and there are occasions where discretion is required and information will be readily available over PM โ please make this clear in your sales threads so that members understand how to get more information."

and:
"4. Try to post as much info about the item as you can, including Price, Photos, Size, Edition size, Condition, but you can post as much or as little as you decide."

The site does its best to cater for those who want to use it properly

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Lroy on Jun 10, 2015 15:04:02 GMT 1, Yes I agree with all in this thread ( or the little I understood ). For my case ( Am I a good example ? I dunno ) , I tried to sale sunday ( for holidays ) a Cartrain bought years ago, that I loved. I put my announce as if it was in a family, or in a pub between friends ( I made a text with a bit of humor, told a story about it etc... ) , I love the discussion with Lonelyfarmer ( and his collage that he shown to us ) etc... Now ? I don't sell anymore my Cartrain. Thart's great ! I will cut a nice glass and frame it in its golden frame.
I tell this because, I remark, since months, that the only threads I see here on what is supposed to be a forum ( and not a branch of Ebay ) are for " Sales " , without any discuss. There is only prices written, two words, as in a catalog...

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Dibbs 45 on Jun 10, 2015 17:22:05 GMT 1, Where a sales thread is concerned : if the person can't be arsed to give the information, then why should anyone be arsed with the person selling it. Rules are about structure to help people not about some overbearing heavy handedness. You should treat people how you would like to be treated yourself. Both buyer and seller. Just as a good dealing with thread helps with trust issues. Of course people just use the forum to sell their stuff. They should realise that its about building a good reputation and being courteous and polite will hopefully ensure that.

They never participate or a little ... Well, it's free anyway, free as air... Each his own maybe but Respect is the word ! Not contempt. We are all humans, some are richer that's all.

Sale threads & bad attitudes., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2015 19:29:22 GMT 1, I think its because some people like to be very self important, and don't want to deal with the Plebs.
Unfortunately everyone here is a Pleb. Yes, even You!
What would be helpful if the item isn't a fixed price, then offers over x would be useful for a pleb like me to know straight away if i am in or out.
there should be a rule about it, we need rules
