God's Own Junkyard, by Guaanie on Aug 2, 2015 17:02:25 GMT 1, This weekend I visited Chris Bracey's 'God's Own Junkyard'. If you've not heard of it, you must check it out - it's the most beautiful visual assault on the senses and really is incredible in every way.
For those of you who don't know, Chris was the neon king of London - starting with fairground rides he later found a niche in the market and started producing signage for the sex shops and strip clubs of Soho.
He lit the whole of Soho almost single-handedly over the next 30 years. More recently, Chris moved on to develop his signage into a true art-form and produced some beautiful pieces right up until his untimely death last year.
I got some solid brownie points for this which I got it for my girlfriend's birthday - her name is Beki. Oh and ignore the random flying guinnea pig card i made for her!
You can read about the Junkyard here: www.godsownjunkyard.co.uk/
and Chris' obituary is here: www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2014/nov/12/chris-bracey

It's actually a B but the pic is a bit dodgy ;-) It was ยฃ260 - not bad at all considering some of the pieces are well into five figures.

God's Own Junkyard, by eskay on Aug 3, 2015 16:36:21 GMT 1, Hope you checked out all the recent walls in Walthamstow whilst you were there?
Some stunners have gone up in the last couple of months by Conor Harrington, Phlegm, The Toasters, Dale Grimshaw, Mr Cenz, Static, Fanakapan, Malarky, and Hunto to name a few...
I have a few photos that I can upload if anyone is interested...

If you could post some pics it would be amazing!

There's actually a small exhibition of some pieces in the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank if you're ever that way.
