Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by .dappy on Aug 4, 2015 21:54:53 GMT 1, ... I agree it is always a tricky balance, but there is the Wanted Section if you are after a Banksy or other particular artist's piece ...
If you put up a good Wanted Post someone eager to sell you something, that happens to have less than 50/1 I'm sure would be in contact ...
If a person joins and sticks around/contributes, they will soon find their way around and particular people who have a preference for an artist, eg just look at the Framed Invader Thread. Leads to appraising/buying a piece would soon come from just being here.

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Aug 4, 2015 22:12:52 GMT 1, Over the past few months, it has become apparent that the number of sales threads from members that don't otherwise participate have increased significantly. At the same time, there has also been an increase in the number of sales threads that do not contain an ย appropriate level of information. For the good of the forum, both issues need to be addressed. We have therefore implemented a new rule for all sales threads: Members must have a minimum of 50 posts, and must be a member for a minimum 1 calendar month before they can start selling. During that period, we would expect our new members to Introduce themselvesย and use the time to make positive contributions to the forum and the community. In a similar vein, we have also amended the rules so that apporpriate information is provided in sales threads. There are times when this may not be possible due to rarity or exclusivity of a piece, but that is by exception. Most sales threads should contain the minimum suggested information, so going forward there will be the potential for Guardians to remove sale threads that do not conform to the minimum expectations or are considered insulting to our community. The actual rules will be amended as follows :ย ======== SALES : Members must have a minimum of 50 posts and have been a member for a minimum period of 1 calendar month before they will be permitted to create threads on the Sales Boards. We encourage new members to โ Introduce Yourselfโ, participate in the forum and enjoy becoming part of the community before attempting to sell goods. 9. Unless you have previously discussed and agreed the need with a Forum Guardian; All Sales must be kept to a single Thread. Forum Staff reserve the right to consolidate your sales threads without warning if you post multiple threads.ย 10. In Sales threads you are asked to post as much info as possible. Suggested minimum information:- Price, Size, Condition, Edition, Photos, Location. There are occasions where discretion is required and information will be readily available over PM โ which should be made clear in your sales thread. For Sale Threads that do not provide the minimum suggested information, as indicated above, and/or continually disregard this requirement may be removed or locked. =========== These new rules are effective immediately - Thank you from the UAA-Team [HASH]salesrules [HASH]newmembers
Good news

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by Quinnster on Aug 4, 2015 22:33:55 GMT 1, I really think this is a shame and will mean less opportunities for forum members, especially with Banksy prints. I have sold, bought and traded art via the forum more times than I have posted. I have even helped some long term members achieve their holy grail. I have sold (via pm) on the forum because I wanted my prints to go to a good home and because I couldn't be arsed with eBay, often selling at a lower price. In fact, I have met more forum members than posts. The people who bought early on don't want to post 50 times for your approval so you're just directing them elsewhere - but I suppose there are plenty of fresh Banksy prints out there?
Sounds like you have plenty you could contribute to the forum.....

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by Love Is In The Air on Aug 4, 2015 23:05:21 GMT 1, Seems fair enough. Still a newbie on here, less that a year and have tried to contribute a bit on new release details etc for a novice. 50 posts is quite high but preferable to a lot of people selling something with their first post which is normally vague and I have noticed seems to annoy some members. Personally I PM a lot back and forth before buying from anyone and try to build up relationship before committing to meeting up or dropping hundreds or a few grand on a print. Have bought from three long standing members on here who have all been brilliant to deal with.

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by Deleted on Aug 5, 2015 7:51:17 GMT 1, I think the first rule about min number of posts is prob a good idea. Not so keen on the second change. I collect mostly originals these days. Prints are easy to value. Not so, originals. For that reason it is often difficult to value an original and a discussion by pm about price is what usually ensues. Can there be an exception for originals? Yes, because I just said so.

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by sparky999 on Aug 5, 2015 9:19:16 GMT 1, 3 months and 50 posts would be better- this will just lead to a bunch of spam posts IMO. Like the idea behind the changes but think you need to go further.

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by cmodart on Aug 8, 2015 3:17:10 GMT 1, I think this whole thing is policed adequately now. Someone shows up, posts a near-mint u/s flag for about 10k and people give them shit about it. Either they take the advice and sort it out or they leave.
Anyway - just my opinion...

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by 11 on Aug 17, 2015 14:32:25 GMT 1, A quick update - when this was implemented anyone with under 50 posts could not even comment on a sales thread.
We have amended this now so you will need 50 posts and 1 months membership to create Sales threads but anyone can comment without restriction
This is a trial approach and may well change in the future (or tweaked) but on the whole has been well received and welcomed.
Thank you from the UAA to all our members for your ongoing support

Changes to the Guidelines and Rules on Sales Threads, by mlocks on Aug 18, 2015 9:00:43 GMT 1, I really think this is a shame and will mean less opportunities for forum members, especially with Banksy prints. I understand the need to cut down on scammers and people that are simply too lazy to provide even the most basic of details regarding a sale, but the negative consequences of imposing an arbitrary posting requirement seems likely to outweigh any perceived benefit, especially for those looking to purchase Banksy prints at a reasonable price point relative to gallery pricing. In other words, scammers gunna scam, lazy be lazy, and the more casually involved members will look elsewhere when they need a quick sale on one of their Banksy pieces. If elimination of garbage sales threads is the end goal the better policy would seem to be simply tightening up the sales thread policy (i.e. automatic removal of threads that don't strictly conform to the requirements stated above). If you disagree with me please explain your reasons in detail so I can debate you until I hit 50 posts. Cheers.
