New RAE drawings, by t3c on Nov 14, 2015 9:34:56 GMT 1, I scored Play Dat Beat half asleep when the email dropped in 11:30 UK time. Cut creator & Beat Box were my 1st choices but they went fast!
All sold out now it looks like

New RAE drawings, by Stoko on Nov 14, 2015 10:55:50 GMT 1, Is he taking the piss? Each to their own and all that but Rae is capable of awesome work; colours, mash ups of style and wit. These feature none of this.

New RAE drawings, by stvro22 on Nov 14, 2015 13:57:01 GMT 1, I find the simplicity of the line work to be really great. Sure RAE could do work with all the bells and whistles but these stripped down pieces really convey a lot using minimal lines. I can see an Adidas track suit with a single stripe in the guy spray painting and shell tops with a zig zag line in the one that says Beat Box. Plus he's obviously paying homage to the origins of graffiti from the 70's with this rudimentary approach.

New RAE drawings, by valentina on Nov 14, 2015 15:06:33 GMT 1, I think they great for the price point - you get a gritty RAE OG for $150. If you are a RAE fan, you get what he is doing here. I am pretty pissed though - I didn't get the email, and my favorite images are sold.

With the high pace of modern society and the increased use of social medial , less is needed to visual stimulate certain parts of the brain , in a few years time a Damien Hirst single dot will be all the rage ( if it hasn't been created already)
These are not visually appealing or creative but obviously some find so and as long as it sells , artists :/ galleries will feed the market .

New RAE drawings, by mla on Nov 14, 2015 18:41:51 GMT 1, Way high? Weren't they $150?
It doesn't get much cheaper than that for original work.
My favourite series was the white line drawings atop a painted black background. I own one print from him (Unravel), and it is in the same style, albeit, a bit more complex and polished. I still like the print, but it is hard when I look at it to separate the recent works, which have not been to my taste.

New RAE drawings, by stvro22 on Nov 14, 2015 20:54:16 GMT 1, Dreadnatty Those came within the books so you can't compare the cost. Plus they are from about 2 years ago no?
At $150 a pop I hardly see it as a cash grab as others have mentioned. Plus if you know anything about RAE's connections to social causes and his self produced shows I highly doubt he's looking to cash in from these. Here's a concept: maybe he just liked them enough to put them up for sale?

New RAE drawings, by greenpoint on Nov 14, 2015 20:58:37 GMT 1, I like RAE alot. I own a few pieces. With that said I agree with dreadnatty that these are expensive for the size and what they are, spray painted line drawings. I get the compositions and the story he's trying to tell but I don't like them at all. The guy in the beat box one is missing a foot. I get his abstract style but he's missing a foot. I don't own it and it still annoys me.

Maybe incorporating all walks of life , including disabled people missing a foot , not all can be symmetrical and pretty , part of life
Or made to provoke a thought , which it has ?

Maybe not his strongest but for 100 quid you could do a lot worse.
