However, just from a common-sense perspective, it seems reasonable that you'd want to keep valuable artwork away from poisonous gas. Anything that kills moths, termites or mould is likely to also have some impact on the chemical composition of art, especially works on paper.
Damage may not be immediately noticeable, but โ as with heat, humidity, light, or framing materials that aren't acid-free โ there's certainly potential for damage, however minor, like an acceleration to the normal ageing process.

They'll be using Vikane brand gas. I guess that's the same as you mentioned

Home Fumigation, by dotdot on Feb 20, 2016 16:03:09 GMT 1, If your art is insured you may simply wish to contact them advise them of the plan and ask of the potential implications.
Chances are if there are it should be mentioned on the policy, but a cursory phone call backed up by a statement in writing will be enough for you.
Also ask your fumigator of past experiences.
Let us all know btw.. In case others have to go through the same in future...

Home Fumigation, by secondratehero on Feb 22, 2016 17:28:48 GMT 1, Not to pry but what are they fumigating for. Never underestimate the fact that some of those little creatures can wiggle into framed art and by removing the at you may be letting them back in after the fact to populate.

I know this fella from Pest Control.....he's been mumbling the same thing to me.......but is whining on about his arm and may have a mild seizure if he tries to post anymore as everyone is giving him the 'ump.
Im a bit pissed off myself now as when he said he was the Rat Catcher and worked for pest control thought I was hooked in, been waiting for a COA for a year and only now do I find it isn't THAT pest control!

Termites are easier then say bed bugs. If you're removing the art make sure to give everything a once over for wood dust or stains that might look out of place. If everything looks good and you're worried about the fumigation then just pack it up and move it out.
