Emilio Villalba, by nobokov on Aug 31, 2016 0:13:42 GMT 1, I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but do fans of his work find the artwork aesthetically pleasing or is that not the point? I just find them incredibly disturbing and when darkness falls, I'd likely avoid any room where these pieces would be hanging.
I think I'll term this artwork of the 'smeared-face' genre, a la Conor Harrington, Ryan Hewitt, Jake Wood Evans, etc. I'd love to hear what the true fans of these painters think about the artwork and why it appeals them.

Much of my collection is what one might describe as disturbing. I have little interest in pretty pictures. I like art that shocks. That makes one stop in ones's track and think. Perhaps for that reason, out of the 100's of pieces in my collection, there isn't a single landscape. I only realised that recently.

Would it be too personal to ask whether you live alone? (Yes, I'm guessing it would be.) I wonder how much our own tastes and artwork we purchase are influenced by the ones we live with and what sort of path our interests would've taken had we lived around different people.

Emilio Villalba, by ferg on Aug 31, 2016 10:30:44 GMT 1, I have landscapes, hearts ,disturbing pictures and abstracts and love them all art is subjective to each individual so there's no right or wrong just right in the owners eyes.
