buying ghetto prints on ebay, by daz205 on Dec 5, 2007 11:17:29 GMT 1, we all know that the ghetto exclusive prints will appear on ebay, but what are peoples views on buying them? i personally will not even though i believe that a flipper should get something in their pocket for going to the ghetto, getting the print etc, but i cannot get over the feeling that any extra cash made from these prints ( or at least a proportion of it ) should be donated back to the original source. with all the talk of artist resale rights etc is it not possible for pow to make this a condition of the purchase of one of these prints?

Here here if i could afford it i'd buy a flags off Ebay rather than risk being blown up, you have to take into account that the flipper has had to buy flights, take time off work, pay for accomodation and also take a considerable risk, i would prefer to sit on my sofa and wait for the postman even if this does mean i pay a premium.

If flippers and value of prints will not exist, it will not be any forum Well almost none.

buying ghetto prints on ebay, by valeha on Dec 5, 2007 13:02:31 GMT 1, I think Daz was saying that there is more of a complex issue when the money from the prints is going to charity, should other people benefit?
IMO I think the prints should have been sold at market value which wouldn't have been too hard to work out hence no profit for flippers.
I would love a gold flags but I don't think I could buy it off ebay. Oh and the comment about not going for fear of "being blown up" is just ignorant and pathetic...neg as you wish I don't care anymore.

Cause one of the main reason's the Israeli's are building their illegal wall according to them is to prevent suicide bombers from blowing everyone up, and the Israeli army are quite good at blowing up things and people also are you suggesting that this does not happen?

buying ghetto prints on ebay, by valeha on Dec 5, 2007 13:37:41 GMT 1, when was the last time someone got blown up in Bethlehem?
Date please?
EDIT: reading your last post it seems a little more balanced, I take back the ignorant/pathetic comment..sorry
But blowing up doesn't happen much in Bethlehem...(there was a incursion in the church of the nativity...that was a few years back), unlike Gaza where bombings happen very often, if the Ghetto was in Gaza it'd be pretty damn scary....Israel has a slight habit of bombarding Gaza, esp since they have no settlers there now.

buying ghetto prints on ebay, by daz205 on Dec 5, 2007 15:44:02 GMT 1, i wasnt commenting on the flipper aspect of it all, but the taking money from the charities that this is all in aid of and putting it in the pocket of someone else who is less deserving. As valenha said above i would feel much happier if for once pow sold banksy`s prints at market price or above if required (e.g. micallef laz prints ) to help the cause intended and not to help someone else who can afford a flight, hotel, time off work etc to get the print and flip it to cover their cost and have a profit afterwards. i dont mind flippers without them i wouldnt have half the prints i do but the cause is a good one if you are going on the trip purely to flip a print then please donate some money back from the profits to the charity it was intended for

it beggars belief at times....
i think it is pretty low to go to those lengths purely for money. you'd need to be a hardcore flipper to go over there, walk in get a voucher and go home. not saying those won't but i think most will go to hardcore fans who want to see the ghetto and the wall and everything, and the rest to people with friends, family, collegues located nearby and tourists who happen to drop in and like what they see.
only time will tell daz.

buying ghetto prints on ebay, by corblimeylimey on Dec 5, 2007 18:43:52 GMT 1, I think it fair if anyone resells for profit that they donate a percentage of that profit back into the charity.
This is exactly what was requested by Banksy at the release of Flag of which all the initial sale proceeds went to charity, for a little time about half of those who sold on immediately for profit did make donations out of their profit, so the message did get through to some.
If you're a buyer you can do your bit too by bidding on sales that do promise a charity donation.
