General Authentication Question: Kaws, by sufsean on Jun 10, 2016 18:27:27 GMT 1, Hey everyone,
Been offered an interesting piece of Kaws memorabilia.
A film used for one of his print releases. For reference, the actual print goes for about $5k usd as of 2015.
Anyway- there's no signature or anything and basically going off of the seller ( a collector)'s word about its origin.
Would there be any way to get this authenticated?
Would this be worth a few hundred? Would look pretty dope framed- but want to be sure if it's even worth it or I'm buying the equivalent to a poster
Input greatly appreciated!
Best,

General Authentication Question: Kaws, by Howard Johnson on Jun 10, 2016 19:43:01 GMT 1, I'd be careful with piece like this. Kaws does not have any sort of authentication board in place, but I guess its possible that he will create one in the future. Also a "film" doesn't really make any sense in regards to a print. Is it a silkscreen or litho plate? I'd check the technique used to create the print and see if it corresponds with whats being offered.

General Authentication Question: Kaws, by darkcity on Jun 10, 2016 21:25:40 GMT 1, Id stay away from this as axelle did most of his earlier prints and they destroy all print making materials anything made later then 2008 would be in the same ballpark and most other pieces kaws keeps for himself for refference or for records to show for retrospectives etc.. i have good authority that the chances this thing is legit it is either something remived without permission or part of the process that was scapped and re-done, so it prob may be authentic but was meant to be destroyed or test material for the print making process. But goodluck you can always just email kaws and hell tell you may take a few days or a week for a response but again goodluck.
