Framing Cardboard - Advice Sought, by Happy Go Lucky Chap on Aug 4, 2016 2:37:33 GMT 1, I am eventually getting around to framing a large piece on thick cardboard, approx 1msq. Am thinking of floating it between perspex, has anyone here done similar, what tape, fixings did you use? Photos please.

This parra sketch on cardboard is smaller at about 30cm x 70cm and i had it floated using acid free tapes at 6 spots on the back. As the cardboard is already not exactly in 'mint' condition with those arkitip tapes around, i guess a little tape marks don't really matter in this case. But at that size you have, I reckon you need lots of tapes on the back to keep it on.

Framing Cardboard - Advice Sought, by Agent Provocateur on Aug 4, 2016 15:14:17 GMT 1, Cardboard framed looks cool... it's sorta like eating a doner kebab on a plate with cutlery.
How to fix it in the fame is another matter, glue, double sided tape, bluetack, chewing gum, [Paul Insect]*, go with your gut. Specialist ph neutral disolvable Japanese archival paper hinges might be ott tho.
Here's a photo of a bit of cardboard framed a happy punter sent me last week.

Framing Cardboard - Advice Sought, by randomname on Aug 4, 2016 16:22:27 GMT 1, I have a cardboard piece floated in a tray frame with no glass. Looks nice if you don't mind it getting a little dusty.

Framing Cardboard - Advice Sought, by NYart on Aug 5, 2016 0:53:24 GMT 1, I personally enjoy them stuck right up on the wall, doesn't seem right having a rough rugged piece framed in my opinion. Obviously leaving it to the elements isn't ideal but, maybe consider like a shadow box? Not as deep as you'd use for a canvas obviously, but floating in there might still look sharp. Almost like you just have a border around it.
