Lost parcels, by zynaps on Oct 19, 2016 16:16:51 GMT 1, Gents,
A work I bought was lost in a fire at customs warehouse. Honestly I am deeply sad and heartbroken with this. This item took me a long time to deal for the right price and is now lost.
What is funny in the middle of this is that customs and postal services from the country that received the parcel will not repay my money. They told me that the sender has to initiate an investigation process by the sending country postal services and after this they will send repayment to the sender, not to me. Then I have to ask the sender to repay me!
Did someone, unfortunately, went thru this situation before that could provide some advice?
Sorry for the off topic but since here there is a lot of people transacting art I though I could find someone that went thru a similar situation (item lost, etc, etc).
Regards

Regards Yeah, this is true. Shipping insurance is really there to protect the seller - since the item you purchased did not arrive (and will not arrive) the seller should refund you, and file a claim with the PO to make themselves whole.
And, if the seller doesn't want to refund you: assuming you paid through PayPal as merchandise (not a gift payment) your purchase is protected by PayPal; the seller's funds are "protected" by insurance. Conversely, if you paid via credit card through some other venue, your purchase is still protected by your credit card company.

Lost parcels, by zynaps on Oct 19, 2016 16:30:27 GMT 1, I understand iwokeinrelief, but this seems the beginning of a long and painful process that will, for sure, get stuck somewhere.
I am really messed up with this. My purchases will stop for sure.

This should be pretty simple, as long as you paid in a manner that is in some way protected.
It sucks that it happened though, sorry to hear it.

Lost parcels, by peder on Oct 19, 2016 16:38:09 GMT 1, Normally I would reckon that you have your credit card tied up to your paypal account. The simplest way to get the money would probably be to file a complaint to them using the complaint form. Have been in an analogous situation and my credit card issuer returned the money within days.
Good luck.
