Are Fifa for real , by 25127096 on Nov 3, 2016 16:57:24 GMT 1, My first thread, completely off the subject of art. What the hell are Fifa playing at trying to ban the poppy? They are saying it's totally political, which is a lot of cobblers. How can you say wearing a poppy to remeber our fallen comrades past, present and future is anything political. To me it's a show of unity, respect and a way to say thank you to all who have paided the ultimate price, mentally or physically. There is a petition online for anyone sharing the same sort of view as I do.

Are Fifa for real , by ABC on Nov 3, 2016 17:07:52 GMT 1, I don't think footballers are for real, in fact they are all so far up their own rectums it must hurt - Rooney earning 500k a week says it all. That said I want to see them give the middle finger to FIFA when they walk out. listening to the women (from FIFA) on the news the other night who said "we have all had wars why should we give preference to England are they special?" just made me want to launch my curry (with extra peswari Naan) at the TV.

Are Fifa for real , by Deleted on Nov 3, 2016 17:21:17 GMT 1, Very happy for footballers or anyone else to wear poopies if they want to, but why make it as good mandatory (or not in this case)? Going to football for twenty five or so years, I've noticed that recently there's been a minute's silence or memorial practically before every game and this never used to happen.
In this case FIFA should just leave the option for individual players on whether they would like to wear one or not.

I don't think it should be forced either but on the other hand I don't think it should be banned. I don't understand why Fifa are trying to step in and rule with a heavy stick. It's not like we've just come up with the idea and decided we are going to implement it.

Mate I'd love Fifa to see my middle finger I reckon we contact David shrigley and get him to change the fourth plinth a little and turn and point it in Fifa general direction. And 2million a month is just crazy. Really made me laugh about the curry though.

I don't really care for this new thing of embroided poppies on football shirts, as I wouldn't want my employer to tell me that I had to support this, I buy a poppy because I want to. It also becomes a somewhat meaningless gesture if just put there on a shirt. It also results in people having more outrage when this or the James McLean situation comes up.
In Britain there appears to be a growing trend of being outraged by relatively insignificant issues and ignoring many more things that are genuinely outrageous - Syria for example.

I'm more shocked than outraged in the level of control and the statement that Fifa are putting out by saying this. It almost sound like, we haven't got time for this, lets just play football. I feel strongly about remembering those that have died as I have a few friends who are now dead. And Syria has been on and off the news for a while now so it's pretty hard to egnore the conflict i cannot say I'm not outraged by Aleppo, Palestine etc but I feel powerless to do anything about it all, other than to talk about. My usernames my old army number so it's a little closer to home for some than other.
