Progression of Your Art Collection, by yobaby on Feb 18, 2017 13:54:13 GMT 1, I read some great advice on this forum some time ago which went along the lines of: pick 2-3 artists that you really like then do your damnest to get 1-2 pieces of theirs in order to keep your collection manageable. All works are for the enjoyment of my family which can make selecting the image a bit challenging most of the time!
So far I'm very happy with:
Eine Pose Dface
Still waiting to find the right:
Faile Futura
Then I'll be happy. Not planning on collecting past this point. 2 more to go...
Excellent thread by the way

break!
> exit through the gift shop changed everything > banksy, invader, shepard (prints and limited artworks) > urban art / street art various artists (only originals) > the next step is going back to the 70/80s - i try to add some graffiti legends to make my urban art / street art collection "more" complete (back to the roots) - artists like futura, seen, zypher, jonone, haring, dondi etc. (its too late for jmb)

Progression of Your Art Collection, by jettad on Feb 18, 2017 17:50:20 GMT 1, For me it all started with movie prints, discovered EB, then discovered street/urban art from a few threads there. Now heading into new territory but trying to stay within budget is hard sometimes.
movie prints > Jay Ryan > Justin Santora > Rene Gagnon > Phlegm > Banksy > POW (Escif, BAST, Invader, Sickboy) > RAE > Charming Baker > Paul Kremer/Jan Kaleb/Peter Blake.

Progression of Your Art Collection, by natstan on Feb 18, 2017 17:58:26 GMT 1, To keep things short, I just didn't expect myself to be a big fan of parra 5 years after discovering this forum. Definitely didn't started out liking that style of art. I guess the process of getting to know your inner self is an enjoyable part of collecting in itself.

Progression of Your Art Collection, by bigv on Feb 19, 2017 21:27:13 GMT 1, I started with 1xRun and some Above Arrows and Meggs. After that I moved on Shepard Fairey and picked up Peace Bombers in Red and Gold because they reminded me of things I saw as a kid, and they're the hardest of the four versions to find. From there it was bumblebeelovesyou, Saber, Zevs, The London Police, Kai & Sunny, and Cryptik. Now I'm looking for pieces by Aaron De La Cruz, HoxxoH, Faile (Star Spangled Shadows only), Maya Hayuk, and Penny.
The most important progression for me has been from prints > HPM > Originals.
Unless I find a rare-ish print at a price that I think I can leverage into something else I really want (HPMs/Originals) or represents an iconic piece by a specific artist, or is just flat out rare, I'll likely not play in the prints game if I can avoid it.

Progression of Your Art Collection, by bustin on Mar 28, 2017 23:18:48 GMT 1, My love for art started from the time I discovered the OBEY brand in college which led me to learning about Shepard Fairey. My first introduction to urban art. Soon thereafter, I learned about Banksy while I was working abroad and watched a friend buy a CND soldiers (signed) to give to his brother as a gift. (his brother had mentioned he was "slightly" interested in him). He paid about 300 quid if I remember correctly. Oh, how times have changed. Banksy opened up the doors to my other favorites.
