a bit of advice please., by balibob on Feb 28, 2017 12:17:12 GMT 1, Hi Guys
I've sold a print to a guy in the USA. He has arranged the shipping through FedEx. When I printed out the labels I noticed that the description of goods says 'sample t-shirts' and also the guy has not insured the item. I'm pretty sure this would hang me out to dry with paypal if anything goes wrong during shipping. Am I right?
cheers
Bob

a bit of advice please., by Deleted on Feb 28, 2017 12:26:02 GMT 1, I'd not take the risk even though the buyer is sorting the shipping it is still the seller's responsibility to put the correct value etc..

Im not sure this is true. Depends on how the buyer paid. Paypal gift or bank transfer then it might be ok but seems others have had lots of trouble recently with this.

a bit of advice please., by chads007 on Feb 28, 2017 13:37:29 GMT 1, Myself and the OP I think dealt with the same guy given description. Paid via gift, I put artwork in description at the depot, got signed off by guy at depot as being correct, no issue since. Agree, bank transfer or gift only. I think the buyers description enabled a shipping discount, but was insured to full value by them.

a bit of advice please., by Happy Shopper on Feb 28, 2017 14:28:42 GMT 1, Get it in writing that he takes responsibility for loss or damage if he doesn't pay for insurance and has marked the item wrong. As a seller I'd always want to make sure I'm covered though. The carefree buyer can suddenly change when the tube turns up damaged and it's your fault for packing it badly.

a bit of advice please., by thugs on Feb 28, 2017 14:36:44 GMT 1, iirc, someone was scammed here a couple of years ago by a similar practice, something about not being at all covered by paypal because the item was collected by a third party rather than the seller shipping it himself?

a bit of advice please., by savannahsam on Feb 28, 2017 15:10:46 GMT 1, Ask for for payment as gift, then all risk on buyer. He's just trying to lower his import cost which everyone wants to do. Big misconception here with this! PayPal in certain instances will refund gift payments depending on the situation. Then if he uses his American Express to send the payment then you're screwed. American Express will always side with their clients! Another fact to mention is that I've never paid an Import duty on any Art Item entering the US except when I bought the first OS Gemeos print from 99 prints. (The Other Side)
PS: Everyone here should take a moment and read the new PayPal User agreement! Beneficial for mind, body and soul!
Good Luck OP
'Twas burnt on two occasions because of this! They weren't big buys but still stung in the end and I had to take a complete loss on both prints.

I have never intimated in any way that I thought I was getting scammed, purely asking the forum for some advice as another member had a bad experience when his item was shipped with no insurance.
Just in case you aren't following the emails mate, the insurance figure is still zero.

a bit of advice please., by Howard Johnson on Feb 28, 2017 18:24:46 GMT 1, ohfranklinoh is a solid new member, and I can guarantee you he wasn't trying to pull some scam. I've sold and bought from Noah on multiple occasions, and shared a beer or two with the guy as well. Hes in the rock n roll business and uses his company to buy art to duck the tax man (kidding, but not really). The dudes 100%, and I bet it was a simple misunderstanding.

a bit of advice please., by balibob on Feb 28, 2017 18:44:15 GMT 1, As I've said, I never said anything about a scam, never publically identified the buyer apart from being American and had already emailed Noah that I had received a private message from a guy who obviously has incredible clairvoyant powers who had dealt with Noah before and had vouched for him. A bit hacked off now, going for a beer.
