Thoughts..... Advice???, by Morfx on Mar 4, 2017 15:54:58 GMT 1, I saw a print a loved a while ago and bought it...
The print arrived damaged (Dinged in the corner)
Contacted the seller who agreed a replacement would be sent upon receipt of the original goods, but was told to keep the COA.. And the same number would be shipped back..
So I questioned what would happen to the print I returned..
Was told It would be restored..
So.. I was thinking there is a possibility of two of the same numbers possibly in circulation at some point, but was assured 1000000% this would never happen..
To which my reply so the reason edition numbers are written in pencil is so then can be changed??
The offer of a replacement was then retracted and refund would only be given...
Thoughts???

Just doing my due diligence.. Obviously didn't go down to well...

Thoughts..... Advice???, by NYart on Mar 4, 2017 17:02:37 GMT 1, Seems like the only way they could alter it to resell without potentially running into issues would be change it to a number that was 'lost' or make it a AP. But the fact they'd have it restored definitely suggests they intended to resell regardless of what number it was sold as.

Thoughts..... Advice???, by avec art on Mar 4, 2017 18:03:05 GMT 1, If they can restore an otherwise perfectly good print, then it would be a shame to waste it. I expect they'll change the number to one, like NYart said became lost, which is not uncommon with the release of an edition, or they can write DN next to the number somewhere. This is presuming the seller is the artist or publisher, as I think these are the only people with the authority to do this.

Thoughts..... Advice???, by pedrofuhrer on Mar 4, 2017 18:17:29 GMT 1, It's good to know where they did it to you.
I think that's one of the good thing that we can expect been here.
Advice on where any transaction can be strange.
Isn't it one of the purposes of this forum?
Thanks and so sorry for this happening to you.

I'd rather not name the printhouse for now, but was absolutely baffled by the response I got for asking the question..
I don't know how print houses work and asked if they kept blanks, that's the only way I could of kept the same number, and possibly why it's written in pencil so it can be changed
To then be told I'm insinuating they keep lots blank, the offer of a return was retracted and only a refund will be issued.
I've asked to be removed from their mailing list as I can't be dealing with folk who can't answer a basic question.
The print house uses the forum, so feel free to chip in..

Great man, thanks for clarifying... Still sad for your experience and good luck with next acquisitions.
Cheers.

Thoughts..... Advice???, by El Pulpo on Mar 4, 2017 20:10:44 GMT 1, We'll definitely something strange going on here.
Your questioning was completely normal and understanding,. Would have done exactly the same..
If I have to deal with a gallery or a print house and since the amount of negative experience told this days increase, I'm happy to find as much as feedback as possible (neg or pos) before going further. Especially if they are doing business here, please name it and we'll get an answer from them.

I'd give it a few days for the print house in question to respond in the thread.. Then I will post the Entire email conversation.
