First Great Weston Question, by liddlejc on Apr 4, 2017 12:04:49 GMT 1, Hello all I'm just wondering if this print is considered an unsigned Banksy as it has his first print rude copper in the collaboration.

First Great Weston Question, by disappointed on Apr 4, 2017 12:44:50 GMT 1, I would not consider this to be an unsigned banksy at all.
It is however a fine oddity and a fantastic snapshot of a local scene that was really kicking off and that held so much promise. Given how much of a shadow and influence banksy alone casts over the 'urban' art movement I guess that Screen One can be considered the epicentre of what has become a global movement/industry. Lovely souvenir of some pretty exciting times..

First Great Weston Question, by liddlejc on Apr 4, 2017 14:08:09 GMT 1, It's got his first print on it and signed and tagged by so many of the great artists I've grown up with hence why it's one of my favourite pieces of art I own. The only decent write up I can find is and I'm certainly not selling it

First Great Weston Question, by wigs on Apr 4, 2017 15:12:47 GMT 1, On top of the 200 mentioned on the Expresso Beans site there was also a 'Bristol Edition' of 40 that had a few extra bits on. There is an old thread on this somewhere.

First Great Weston Question, by Forbidden Love on Apr 5, 2017 2:05:45 GMT 1, It's a classic to me. Mines framed up. One of those to keep. Great to have the original Bristol lot all signed in one place. I'm sure it's very nostalgic to them. Also the first 50 of the edition came hand finished by one of the artists who signed. Banksy didn't sign as he said he didn't want that to be the reason why people bought it. He did give the permission to use the image.

First Great Weston Question, by dbnetherleigh on Apr 5, 2017 11:47:05 GMT 1, Have a recollection that nick walker only signed the larger edition and not the Bristol edition. Can't recollect why! Anyway I've got my standard edition framed up and on the wall - and yes it's one of my favourites. There's a lot of interesting refs if you look really closely. Must have been a nightmare to coordinate with all the sigs...

First Great Weston Question, by liddlejc on Apr 5, 2017 16:26:11 GMT 1, The First 50 were hand finished by different artists but not signed by nick walker the rest were I think! as mines the Bristol version and signed by all artists except Mr B. This is without a Shadow of a doubt my favourite print it has so much history involved.

First Great Weston Question, by dbnetherleigh on Apr 5, 2017 16:37:02 GMT 1, Yep - you are right. I remember a little more clearly now but it was only the hand finished ones didn't get the walker sig. I bought mine direct from let them hang - was that where the Bristol version was released from? Also have a hazy but unconfirmed memory that Selfridges were involved in the hand finished edition but could be complete rubbish - it's years ago now!!

Yea handfinished ones were released at self ridges. And the reason why they were not signed by nick was because of the logistics and not being able to get the prints to him in time

First Great Weston Question, by uncle on Apr 7, 2017 11:36:55 GMT 1, I have one of these that has been languishing in the folder all these years. I remember getting up early (for me) to head into town and queue up outside Selfridges for it! Alas, it never made the wall.
If any one is looking to pick one up to put on the wall, let me know. Not sure of the going rate so wold be happy to follow the consensus from forum members.
Not wishing to make money on it and would be happy to sell at below cost.
Mine is hand finished by Jago - a monster in the background behind the buildings.
Cheers

First Great Weston Question, by dbnetherleigh on Apr 7, 2017 12:38:45 GMT 1, No clear idea how much hand finished cost originally but recollect the standard edition was ยฃ375 - ยฃ450 rings a bell? but someone else might have a better memory. If I didn't own the standard edition I'd be interested - someone should be keen if only for the Graf history....
