Best way to store art?, by Artfan13 on Apr 17, 2017 15:01:52 GMT 1, Hi all,
I am gradually running out of space on my walls and so may have to start storing some of the art that I have. What is the best way to do this....flat or rolled? Also if flat can someone recommend a 'folder' or something they use for this purpose?
Many thanks!

Best way to store art?, by Deleted on Apr 17, 2017 15:28:23 GMT 1, Get a massive A0 plan chest, wrap in acid free tissue and store between mount board. That's what I do. The folders are crazy expensive

Best way to store art?, by Dust Buster on Apr 17, 2017 15:45:49 GMT 1, For prints that aren't super valuable I use these 18x24 inch portfolios and to keep them stiff keep the portfolios in these portfolio bags.
I haven't found portfolio books larger than that, so I'm also looking for a good way to store those, but this is an inexpensive way to store at least some of your prints and not take up a lot of space.

Best way to store art?, by soupy on Apr 17, 2017 15:57:24 GMT 1, smaller / cheaper prints (18 x 24in) = itoya portfolio cases ... relatively cheap but not the best protection
larger / expensive prints (24 x 36in) = picturesque presentation cases ... although i've heard rumors they stopped making them.
larger than 24 x 36 = 30 x 40 archival print protector mylar sleeves
larger than 30 x 40 = acid free foamcore board with regular office document clips to keep them closed
other options = flat file

Maybe should consider putting up some more walls! This is the problem with open plan living...not enough space for art!

Best way to store art?, by Flashback on Apr 17, 2017 16:52:44 GMT 1, I bought multiple ring binder cases (A1-A4) and the acid free sleeves for them from here -
quickdrawsupplies
For larger prints I bought these sleeves which are larger than A0 - Blueprint sleeves
Although it doesn't mention that they are acid free in the description, they confirmed to me that they are.
I taped one side of the cardboard containing the A1 folder together and put the A0+ sleeves in it like a sandwich and just stuck it under the bed:) Will do me until I get around to buying an A0 folder.
Only thing to note is that the A0+sleeves don't come with acid free paper dividers to put 2 prints in back to back. Should be easy enough to buy them separately somewhere else though.
