14th Factory - Los Angeles, by 2soonjr on May 13, 2017 7:22:54 GMT 1, This exhibit has actually been up for something like a month now but I just now had the opportunity to check it out. They said it would be open as long as people keep on coming through and supporting so I'd imagine it will be around until maybe the end of the month. It's in a warehouse on the outskirts of downtown LA in Lincoln Heights, I would have drove right by and never even known it was there unless I was specifically there to see it.
I only had my phone on me so apologies in advance for the poor photos but I thought I'd share some for those that cannot see it in person.
You enter through this big pitch dark room with a huge jagged black structure in the middle of it. There's just a white light as you come around the corner and you enter to a brightly lit sterile room in sharp contrast of what you just walked through
In the next room (this isn't my image) you're in a wide open space with a little field and some swings in it. You can walk on that grass in your bare feet or socks but it was all dead at this point unfortunately so I didn't get to see the lush greenery that it once was.
Off to one side there is a galley of some of Simon Birch's paintings
Off to another side of the grassy area is 'The Crusher' which is 300 pitchforks suspended from the ceiling. Here's one of me sitting underneath them with no regard for the amount of earthquakes we have around here (Also a photo from outside on a wall that talks about the various exhibits i.imgur.com/VJCejj9.jpg )
There were a number of videos playing in different sections, I tend to not really enjoy those type of things at museums and exhibits but a few of the ones here were pretty interesting. One involved flipping a Ferrari and in the next room you're greeted with a long table of some of the remains and some blown up photos of the aftermath
In a room beyond the wreckage there is a narrow space with probably a good 60 crowns ranging from simple generic looking ones from different woods, stone, etc. at the front to some increasingly detailed and stylized ones as you go back. The one below is my photo but the closeup is not my picture, I just found one to show one of the more complex crowns.
The following two are also not my photos as the lighting was very harsh when I visited. Outside there is a dark pool with the tail sections of aircraft that were recovered from an airplane graveyard. It's hard to get the scale of these in the first picture but I found another picture that gives a better idea. Really interesting to see them like this.
All in all I thought it was a cool exhibit and definitely worth checking out if you're around the area, there were quite a few more rooms than the ones I showed. There's some info on their website at the14thfactory.com/ if you're interested.

14th Factory - Los Angeles, by sonmi451 on May 13, 2017 16:47:28 GMT 1, Thanks for the pictures! .. definitely want to check this out. I've heard that first room is a re-creation of the famous 2001 movie scene.
