This kind of smack talk can be detrimental to an artist and to a collector if it's not verifiable. So put up or shut up.

For trade or sale, by Anthony Styles on May 17, 2017 14:30:58 GMT 1, yes would be very interested to understand what these comments are based on. also.. are we assuming most artists create their own work? I don't believe that. Most artists have a team working with them.

If anyone would like to do the same here's his email: lucdotprice@googlemail.com or luc_price@hotmail.com
Perhaps we can clear this up for once and for all. Failing that, why not ask Harveyn who knows that Price doesn't create his own paintings but has suddenly gone strangely quiet on the topic. It's a shame Price's gallery doesn't come on here to clear this up either. They are quick enough to try and sell his prints but not to clarify his creative position.
In the meantime, good luck with the sale.

For trade or sale, by thedutchvenus on Jun 15, 2017 18:24:03 GMT 1, The rumour is apparently these are painted in China at a painting village and then shipped to the artist to be signed. So they could be classed as conceptual works, conceived by the artist but executed by someone else.

had i gone through with the purchase regardless, i wouldn't have been too pleased upon discovering, as i did a year or so later, that there are also two or more identical copies of the same 'unique' paintings on the market.

For trade or sale, by Harveyn on Jun 21, 2017 9:28:28 GMT 1, I am not sure why someone thinks I have gone quiet on anything. Also why I would be the subject matter expert.
He may like many artists uses studio artists, Faile, Swoon, Barry McGee, KAWS, Hirst, Jeff Koons and dare I say it Banksy. Some are openly collectives and others use them in the process for varying amounts of the work.
To what extent a studio artist is used and whether one deems the execution less important in some genres/works than the concept really comes down to an individual collectors thoughts.
I know its not quiet the same but the great masters also used studio artists or apprentices. There are many interesting debates about paintings attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci that have been predominantly painted by Andrea Del Verrocchio. Authorship is a term frequently used.

For trade or sale, by Matt on Jun 21, 2017 9:47:11 GMT 1, Harveyn you make a fair and very valid point.
Many artists have used various forms of assistants since pretty much forever. It is a well known and documented fact, and it has not prevented them from being highly regarded / collected etc...
The thing here though, is not so much whether assistants are involved, but about transparency. It seems virtually impossible to get an answer from galleries on how this artist works...so there really looks like some form of deception is going on...
That said I don't see why it would inherently turn away collectors from the work if they think highly of it in the first place...

Describing yourself as a photo-realist painter doesn't make you a conceptualist. It makes you a charlatan.

For trade or sale, by Harveyn on Jun 26, 2017 11:25:46 GMT 1, I am not sure why someone thinks I have gone quiet on anything. Describing yourself as a photo-realist painter doesn't make you a conceptualist. It makes you a charlatan.
I can understand were you are coming from on this point. I think depending on the type of photo-realist painting I would agree in some instances but in others I would disagree.
I believe a photo-realist painter can be a conceptualist as in Jeff Koons. In these instances the ability to paint in this manner becomes less important than the transmission of idea.

For trade or sale, by Harveyn on Jun 26, 2017 11:34:31 GMT 1, Maybe the debate is whether the work is photo-realism which tends to be devoid from emotion or hyperrealism which adds narrative and feeling.

Hyperbollocks.
But well done for unravelling all the twisty, turny knots you cleverly tied us up in in your previous post on this matter.
