Movie Posters and Restoration, by njr911 on May 25, 2017 9:21:31 GMT 1, I have just found my old tube full of movie posters from the 80's and 90's. My favourite was always the Back To The Future 2 poster I got from the Cottage Road Cinema in Headingley in 1989.
It's in rough and ready condition having been displayed by the cinema and then blu-tacked to my bedroom wall for a few years before being rolled up and stored in the back of a cupboard.
Does anyone have any experience of getting movie posters restored ? I think they like linen backing them which seams alien to me after years of being on here.
Also is there any value in them ?

Movie Posters and Restoration, by londonfx on May 25, 2017 10:23:44 GMT 1, You can linen back movie posters. But some "purest" aren't keen on that. If you're going to keep them and display then. Then it's a very good way to get them flat.
Graham bignell will be able to work some magic on them. But it all depends on the condition. And how much you want to spend.
Start by getting them out of the tube and flatten them out. Then you can really see the condition and go from there

Movie Posters and Restoration, by jettad on May 27, 2017 8:11:13 GMT 1, I got from the Cottage Road Cinema in Headingley in 1989. Totally unrelated to the posters, but my brother and I were good friends with the kids of the owner of the Cottage Road. We used to get in all the time for free. Memories, I haven't thought about that place in a long time!

Movie Posters and Restoration, by iamzero on May 27, 2017 8:54:57 GMT 1, I iron out the creases in my film posters and have float mounted them the same way I do any other print. Currently still rocking the Teenwolf one but about to switch it with a Beat Street one.

Movie Posters and Restoration, by londonfx on May 27, 2017 9:09:29 GMT 1, Do you use the same hinges you use on prints?
I get nervous that it's not reversible due to the poster paper type being different to prints

Movie Posters and Restoration, by iamzero on May 27, 2017 9:21:19 GMT 1, Hayaku hinges. Tried them on a knackered poster before this one and removed without any noticeable problems. But to be honest the posters I buy have rips and drawing pin holes so a few hanging hinges aren't gonna make much difference. I prefer the used poster as they have much more character in my eyes.
