Would you ... , by touchdowntodd on Jun 29, 2017 2:41:20 GMT 1, Purchase a Banksy print with no PC COA ... but has pow purchase info (original purchaser is selling thru the gallery owner) ..
With gallery willing to give a money back guarantee in contract form that it will pass pest control
(Thread simply made to show seller responses, I already know what you'll say lol)
Thank you

Decent deal in theory
More trying to prove a point and get opinions

Maybe someone else will have some reason not to. The annoying thing to me would be waiting over a year Waiting on pest control.

Would you ... , by WOOF on Jun 29, 2017 3:38:44 GMT 1, If they're so sure it'll get approved, why wouldn't they just register it?
These days, with all the fake ass no brick and mortar online only galleries, I'd recommend being extra cautious.

I agree with this. But if it's a legit gallery the reason could be as simple as they don't want a year for pest control to open an email and look at some images...
Please note the term 'legit gallery' is something one would need to know a lot more then the OP has shared

Rather not say..
As stated, this is more of a "what if".. relate it to any local gallery thats been established for a decent amount of time (say 5-10 years)
Just trying to get answers to show the gallery more tHan make up my own mind ...I have my mind made up 99%

Seems pretty legit to me.
It appear this doesn't go with your position but I find no issue with their proposal especially if it's at discount price.
Everyone always says to get pc before selling but when it takes over a year that's a huge deal.

Would you ... , by kaos on Jun 29, 2017 7:39:41 GMT 1, Buying and selling art to me is about relationships. It doesn't matter whether its a Banksy or some unknown artist. It's about its history the back story. I would want to know a lot more than - I bought it from pow and here is the receipt. Why didn't the seller get a COA over the many years? If they own a Banksy they would surely know that any buyer will want a COA. There might well be an excellent reason but I would want to know. I am fairly new to this game and in that short time I have made good friends with people I have bought art from, sometime the deal didn't happen yet we've kept in touch. The point I'm trying to make here is if I knew all it's history the seller's story and believed them I probably would buy it. But I'd have to know a lot more. I run a mile from people who don't want to engage. That's me.

I can't be arsed?
I didn't know about the COA?
I didn't think i'd sell, but then found out how much it was worth?
For Me its the I can't be arsed reason, but then to counter that I am not selling, so really should get the COA as it takes over a year, and who knows what can happen in that time span, (off to get camera)

Would you ... , by alk on Jun 29, 2017 7:50:13 GMT 1, I purchased an US CND from ebay w no coa. And no purchase history.
I felt if I saw it in the flesh I would be able to tell if it was a fake.
1.5 years later I get an email from PC confirming it is authentic. Thank god. But haven't received the COA yet.
I'll probably never do that again unless I can get atleast 40% off.

Would you ... , by Ruggs on Jun 29, 2017 8:44:31 GMT 1, I purchased my 'Flag' without a COA. Previous owner, who I had got to know through previous transactions, had all the details, receipt, care instructions etc. I was 100% confident of what I was purchasing. It took me a little over a month to register it in my name and obtain a COA.

Yeah from my understanding they will verify ownership within a few days.
