Black and white prints, by mouser on Jul 13, 2017 5:30:42 GMT 1, with the launch of Pejac's Scattercrow today, and the acceptance that i most likely wont be getting one, interested to hear other folks thoughts and favourites of the black and white genre.
Do black and white images create a stronger impression? Do you prefer a bit of colour or favour a cornacopia of colour?
I have found myself being drawn to black and white images for a while now, micallef charcoal head studies, gormley studies, TLP, rude copper, hmv, barcode etc.... interested in hearing others opinions and favourites of the black and white canon.

Black and white prints, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 10:55:43 GMT 1, I have nothing against colour, but almost my entire collection is in black and white as I'm drawn to detailed illustrative works in ink.

Started the movement and some of the most classic images out there.

Black and white prints, by BKBOI on Jul 13, 2017 14:16:45 GMT 1, It really depends on your tastes as well. If you are a minimalist, then black and white prints should go well with the rest of your house. As for me, all works on my wall have plenty of color in them.

Black and white prints, by soupy on Jul 13, 2017 15:31:09 GMT 1, i will fully admit that i am a slut for color. black & white does not appeal to my eyes although i can appreciate the talent (phlegm, pejac, etc).
the stuff that usually makes my wall are vibrant colors... pose, eine, miss bugs, faile, maya hayuk, martin whatson, hush, etc.

Black and white prints, by Poly Mindset on Jul 13, 2017 16:24:29 GMT 1, I don't believe you have to be a fan of one or the other. My collection has many pieces of color but I really appreciate a nice black and white as well. I love pretty much all of Qbic's drawings as well as Candice Tripp's etchings. I think there's room for diversity in one's collection, it doesn't have to be either or........

Black and white prints, by Howard Johnson on Jul 13, 2017 20:48:31 GMT 1, Coordination is key! A room of all monotone art can look fabulous. A black/white print can also be paired with virtually anything which is nice. I personally have gravitated more towards simpler prints (in terms of colors) over the years. They tend to provide a clean and modern atmosphere, as opposed to the blockbuster appeal of say a pose or KAWS. Its all about how you want the room to feel.
Personal favorites:
-Banksy's Barcode -Bast's La Benzo (cant believe one just popped up!) -Keith Haring's Untitled (Man on Dolphin) -Anything by Barbara Kruger (cheating a bit because of the red) -Kaws' Snoopy Portfolio -Richard Prince's Protest Portfolio

Black and white prints, by Daniel Silk on Jul 23, 2017 12:52:41 GMT 1, with the launch of Pejac's Scattercrow today, and the acceptance that i most likely wont be getting one, interested to hear other folks thoughts and favourites of the black and white genre. I think it's a bit like old Black and white films, sometimes the simple contrast helps keep your eye focused more on the image rather than being distracted by the colours. But I should think a who house of Black and white art might be taking it too far, also depends on the colour scheme of your house

Black and white prints, by mrizzle on Jul 23, 2017 13:33:37 GMT 1, I'd never heard of Steven Spazuk before this thread but his work is really interesting. His bio is quite fascinating and I was unaware of the technique called 'fumage'. Thanks for sharing because, again, I've had my eyes opened to a new and very interesting artist. Is his work expensive?
