LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by RoboJ on Nov 23, 2017 18:48:39 GMT 1, Hi Guys
I'm really pleased to be releasing my first handmade silk screen print tomorrow at 3pm @ www.roboj.bigcartel.com. To make the piece as accessible as possible to anyone who likes the image, you will be able to select how much you want to pay. If you really can't afford normal print releases but like the piece you can pay ยฃ5, ยฃ10, ยฃ20, what ever you like. I just ask that it's not abused that's all.
A Liberty Too Far raises awareness of the failing gun laws in the USA. The reverse print is a 4 layer silk screen print with hand finishing. An edition of 15 prints on Arches 300 with deckled edges. I hope you like the piece, I've printed them myself.
Thank you
J

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by Faile 313 on Nov 23, 2017 19:12:40 GMT 1, That's a good looking image and a wonderful gesture.
I'd be a buyer if the concept was pro 2nd amendment. I love my guns.
Happy thanksgiving from the United States of America!

Guessing " interesting results " not a good thing

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by RoboJ on Nov 24, 2017 17:29:47 GMT 1, The whole point was to give people who otherwise couldn't afford a print the opportunity to get one. So if they all went to those people that's fantastic. I happen to know that one of the buyers owns 2 houses and so it's dissapointing when they choose not to even cover the costs of me making the print. Hey ho a re think is needed for next time.

Thatโs why he/she has two houses. They are tight! Great gesture but people like your โfriendโ with two houses ruin such generous offers for next time ๐

I need to re think for future releases as I want to keep the concept of having pieces accessible to those who can't afford today's print prices with out the system being abused. On that note I have held back a couple of pieces which will be given to charity auctions soon.

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by jig5aw on Nov 24, 2017 23:10:50 GMT 1, Surely the fact the person paid what they felt is exactly what was offered here? I'm not sure it is about how much money they have, but more what they wanted to pay for the print so where is the issue. What would you expect someone with two houses to have paid? I think your best bet has to be to set the lowest price at what you are happy with whether that is covering costs etc. It's potentially a bit harsh to call someone out for taking you up on what was essentially your offer.
Perhaps next time you need to say pay why you want but make it proportional to your wealth or I'll be pissed off!

I appreciate what you mean however it was specifically written what the cost to make the prints are and that those who would otherwise not be able to afford one could pay as little as was required. I was naive to think that people who could afford to cover at least the cost price of the print would pay it. If it's that people paid what they felt it was worth I shall pack up haha. ยฃ5 doesn't cover the paper it's printed on so I'm fairly certain people didn't pay what they thought it was worth haha. I have absolutely no problem if people just paid a fiver if that makes the art accessible. It's my about the money at all.
Anyhow I hope the prints went to those who did want one. I really enjoyed making them. I just need to think of how to make prints accessible in a different way.

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by Rouen Cathedral on Nov 25, 2017 3:16:32 GMT 1, Shame about the abuse.
I think a way to make art accessible to some fans would be to attempt โgiveawaysโ or low prices options that require some type of effort. For example if a fan of your work messages with interest on learning about your work. Maybe offer them a deal privately. Keep some of each print you make in a stock for people you come across that show good intentions or sincerity.
Just a thought but I recently emailed Roamcouch from his contact on his website cause my daughter has the NYC print on her wall and one night we were just talking about it and those old time photos with the steel workers. I just sent a quick note telling him we enjoyed it and honestly didnโt expect a response. The next day he emailed back with a little line and it was awesome.

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by natstan on Dec 8, 2017 14:56:52 GMT 1, Just sell them at your cost the next time, if you only want to create and share your work than making money. To be honest, ยฃ40 is already pretty affordable for a print, there is no need to dangle an offer of ยฃ5 to make it more affordable.

LTF Print - Forum Auction for charity, by moron on Dec 8, 2017 15:50:59 GMT 1, Nice screen prints.
I wouldn't worry about people who paid low or high. That's part of doing business and marketing. Often it costs money to buid up a client base and promotion.
The same thing would happen if Banksy or Hirst or even the Saliva Monday was sold with pay what you feel. Hirsts would sell for a fiver and Banksy too. The Mundi would go for a tenner on a flea market.
Shame you wiped the screens. Did you hold any back as in artists proofs etc. I think do what Pure Evil does and make some hand finished proofs with gold and silver and black marker pens or spray freehand or stencil added to the image etc and put those up for a decent price which will have an impact on your next release.
I like disaster movies.

For those who missed out I'm doing an auction for one of the hand finished prints on here. The way it works is you bid and link to the just giving page your money will go to if you win. Auction ends Sunday 12pm. Once the auction ends you post your confirmation of donation & I post the print. I'll cover p&p. Should be fun & raise a little money for a good cause you choose. I'll start as an example -
