Greatest Items Sold on UAA?, by Guy Denning on Mar 24, 2018 9:49:55 GMT 1, Interesting read. Vaguely remember it now. Whilst there were plenty of members incorrectly saying it was obviously fake, interesting to see that Zippy and Harveyn gave good advice. Also a shame to be reminded that artists like Dicy used to post here, but stopped, and the reason for this. Great result for the owner. It's funny to see that even ten years ago the threads descended into name calling!

Greatest Items Sold on UAA?, by met on Mar 24, 2018 16:56:19 GMT 1, As more people join the forum (like myself) it would be great to know of any crazy items that have been put up for sale here - sold or not over the years. I had began to crawl through old threads but many images / links have expired. What are the best items to have come across the forum? Each of us has basic Duty of Care responsibilities towards other forum members.
These responsibilities should be taken seriously. I hope that my own are fulfilled by the information and commercial products offered in this link:
www.thorlabs.com/NewGroupPage9.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=762
___________
There follows an example of a piece offered here over a decade ago.
It's the orange version of an image released in at least three colourways. White and green were also sold. Each colourway was made available as an edition of 50. They measured 17" x 14" (approx. 43 x 36 cm).
The work was created by one of my favourite shouty, red-faced former members of this message board. Sadly, the period in question preceded the introduction of red stars for artists. [The red-star system helpfully distinguishes real artists from normal forum members, chancers and fake artists.] This Texas native therefore never received the jewel-in-the-crown recognition he was due.
The lack of proper credit is a travesty. One could argue it's comparable to acts of bravery on the battlefield that go unacknowledged.
But then posthumous tributes are better than nothing.
And so, this is my hat tip to artfortruth.
Derek Shumate, your art and your shrieky man-child tantrums will always be remembered.

Greatest Items Sold on UAA?, by telecine on Mar 26, 2018 11:08:13 GMT 1, On the subject of greatest items sold. For me personally this is a highlight of many amazing things I've picked up here..
I was looking for one of these for ages and a long time 'lurker' sorted me out with an AP!! It's still hanging several years later as we never tire of it.

Greatest Items Sold on UAA?, by coller on May 3, 2018 0:29:20 GMT 1, I seem to remember years ago one forum member on a hunch, purchased a small canvas of a stencilled grenade. This was duly given the thumbs down by many members. "Too naive", "Not consistent with others" etc. Pest Control begged to differ.
Figured I'd post the pics because I love you all so much. No, I do not own this.

Greatest Items Sold on UAA?, by andyroo0312 on May 5, 2018 8:08:52 GMT 1, Cool thread.. The above post reminded of a public naming poll to vote for a name for our newest ferry on Sydney harbour, and the winner was Ferry McFerryface. But after public out rage it was scrubbed. It was later found out that the boss of the maritime service decided to pay no attention to the option poll and just named it himself.. Sorry for the digression... Carry on..

To carry on the digression for one more post the Swedes showed more humour than the Brits honouring Boaty McBoatface by naming one of their trains Trainy McTrainface.
