Artist Re Evaluation, by Cocteau 101 on Mar 23, 2018 20:12:27 GMT 1, I thought this could be quite an interesting thread.
Not a thread to just state your favourite artist but a thread to genuinely consider artists that have either stopped being talked about, where lumped in with a scene to which they never belonged and who have carried on producing work and developing their artistic career away from hype and sales values.
To start Andrew Munoz, was represented by Red Propellor for a short time and Andipa.
Now an RWA Academician and a sensitive and thoughtful artist.
A small self portrait I bought many years ago
Worthy of re evaluation in my view, comments welcome.

Artist Re Evaluation, by Cocteau 101 on Mar 23, 2018 23:14:53 GMT 1, I was hoping we could discuss artists who have dropped off the radar but who have gone on to have credible career development. Iโll do a piece on another tomorrow, Irish artist Stephen Dunne.

Artist Re Evaluation, by Cocteau 101 on Mar 25, 2018 10:26:51 GMT 1, Stephen Dunne is an Irish artist who graduated from The Royal College of Art with an M.A in Painting in 2001. His work operates across the registers of painting, drawing, moving image and the investigation of speculative and theoretical fictions. Works are produced in a spontaneous manner and attempt to draw upon the unconscious as a source material. The process of making, where each thing leads to the next through an experimental and intuitive approach is at the core of this work.
A graduate of the M.A in Fine Art painting at the Royal College of Art in London, and of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Stephen has returned as a visiting lecturer at the R.C.A alongside his continued painting practice.
Past exhibitions have included a number of solo shows โLuminousโ at NAG, Dublin, 2015; โPoached Eyes on Ghost & Corpse of Milkโ, Fumbally Exchange, Dublin 2015; โSubliminal Anarchyโ, Pallas Projects, 2014 and a series of solo shows at Rise in Berlin โThe Phantom Limbโ, 2011; โSchizo Epiphaniesโ, 2009 and โDe Zauberlehrlingโ (The Sorcererโs Apprentice)โ, 2008. Alongside ongoing collaborative projects with UK artists John Strutton and Mark Titchner. Other exhibitions have included โToot Tootsie Goodbyeโ at V1 Copenhagen curated by Francesca Gavin, group shows at Domobaal London, GSK Contemporary at the Royal Academy in London (with Mark Titchner) and The Big Four at Channel Four in London. Stephen was also included in โPilot 3โ which was exhibited as part of the Venice Biennale in 2007.
