Lot 0013 Girl with red balloon , by chr1s on Apr 4, 2018 14:12:25 GMT 1, Low number in an edition doesn't add value to a print or make it any more desirable....unless it is number 1 of the edition.

Lot 0013 Girl with red balloon , by Poppy Sunshine on Apr 12, 2018 8:11:43 GMT 1, Knocked down at $66,000 NZ.
Currencies direct translated this to ยฃ34,957 but with the auctioneers 17.5% plus GST of 15% Import duty of 5% and flight logistics shipping and insurance circa ยฃ900 this would have cost a UK buyer around ยฃ44,500 give or take.
As almost all of the interest via the internet and phone lines was from overseas it's a fair bet it's coming home but if someone local to the auction bought it they would save the duties and shipping fees of about ยฃ2600.
So, no doubt the low ballers will be quoting the hammer price or even the sellers net figure which will be heart breaking, and anyone selling or renewing their insurance will be looking at the big number.
Just thought I'd mention it to add to the GWB recent debates.

Just thought I'd mention it to add to the Girl With Balloon recent debates. It's interesting that even with a recent sale price there is no definitive 'what's it worth' price.
I'm sure that if I quote ยฃ44,500 to my insurance company as the price that it cost someone to buy one of these, they would argue and only pay out ยฃ34,957.
I wonder if there is some industry standard to work out the actual price. Maybe take an average of both prices. In which case it's ยฃ39,728.50.

Lot 0013 Girl with red balloon , by Poppy Sunshine on Apr 12, 2018 8:30:01 GMT 1, It would save so much argument if the simple old industry standard always applied..........
ie. If the buyer is happy to pay whatever the seller wants - then everyone is happy !! (except for all the people who are nothing to do with the deal chipping in and jumping up and down in the background)

Lot 0013 Girl with red balloon , by withnail69 on Apr 16, 2018 15:24:42 GMT 1, Hello everyone. Wow that seems incredibly cheap to me.. An unsigned one just sold in France for about 100k euros and didn't one sell in the states for close to 100k in December. Seems insane to have sold it in NZ if thats the consequences... The Digard print was outside of the main edition hence unnumbered.

Sorry I meant un-numbered Yes it was signed, dated and "dedicated" to a lady by Banksy. She is sending some of the sale proceeds down to the children in Palestine. It also had a COA

Being where it was getting sold i thought it would be below what it should be
