Art under £1000 advice , by hampstead on May 8, 2018 23:39:27 GMT 1, Hi guys, I’m Interested in buying some art under £1000 and have been pointed in the direction of Joe Webb’s ‘One day the sun will kill us all’ Which is around £400! Could anyone give me some information on this artist and this piece please, also any pointers towards upcoming artists with art under £1000 would be greatly appreciated! Elizabeth.

HI, good place to start with Joe Webb is his instagram. www.instagram.com/joewebbart/?hl=en He's a politically conscious collage artist, that does editioned screen prints and canvases.
I believe he has recently had a piece placed in a museum and has a good following.
He has work available at Hang up Gallery, Jealous gallery and a current show at For Arts Sake Gallery.
I would also take a look at The Connor Brothers (not really liked on this forum), also Jake and Dinos Chapmans new print at Jealous which is £450.
Ps. One Day the Sun Will Kill us, is his best piece IMO.

Totally agree that one day the sun will kill us all is his best image, fantastic image, I read somewhere that it is on show at the royal academt of arts!

There was a diamond dust edition on show at the original print fair on the Jealous stand at the RA.

Art under £1000 advice , by wrigs on May 9, 2018 18:26:07 GMT 1, Personally think you’re always better off buying pieces that you like and would want on your walls that way you can’t really lose. Ultimately that’s what it should be there for to enjoy rather than as a commodity.
Lots of great artists about at that level although typically looking at prints. Surf the forum and pick those you like and ignore those you don’t.

Art under £1000 advice , by Happy Shopper on May 9, 2018 19:05:16 GMT 1, Check out the Latest Art Buys thread. A lot under £1000 probably, and maybe will throw up some ideas. Or take a look at the Art For Sale thread. Same idea.

Art under £1000 advice , by iamzero on May 9, 2018 19:15:54 GMT 1, I bought the Control Panel release buy Joe Webb. Love it. I’d agree with looking at the Latest Buy thread, sometimes you’ll see stuff that you might’ve passed on but once it’s framed looked totally different.

Art under £1000 advice , by John The Badgers on May 9, 2018 19:21:46 GMT 1, A good shout, and I would certainly recommend a nice message to the top people at Jealous. Always found them great to deal with, and really helpful.
I would also agree with Happyshopper, and keep checking the Art For Sale thread. I'm typically on this sort of budget, and only had smashing deals with people on here.

Art under £1000 advice , by Artfan13 on May 15, 2018 13:54:45 GMT 1, Plenty of art out there for under £1,000 guess it depends what sort of images you like, Mr Jago, Snik, Whatson, Chevrier, Charming Baker etc. Maybe check out the Chiswick auction when it is up, you will probably get a good feel for the types of works that are collected and sold on this forum. urbanartassociation.com/thread/151682/chiswick-auctions-contemporay-urban-sales
As for up and coming artists I would have to agree with Wrigs, there are no guarantees, best to find work you like as opposed to buying to make a quick buck.

Art under £1000 advice , by racket on May 15, 2018 14:48:47 GMT 1, I don't think you can go wrong with a small Jago Painting. There's also a Lichtenstein exhibition screenprint discussed in the Tate thread for not much. Check out graduate art for relatively affordable originals

Art under £1000 advice , by chevyav53 on May 15, 2018 15:02:03 GMT 1, Hi guys, I’m Interested in buying some art under £1000 and have been pointed in the direction of Joe Webb’s ‘One day the sun will kill us all’ Which is around £400! Could anyone give me some information on this artist and this piece please, also any pointers towards upcoming artists with art under £1000 would be greatly appreciated! Elizabeth. I have the first run of this print framed up and love seeing it every day. Would have loved to have seen the diamond dust before as sometimes those really pop. Either way, can't go wrong with this one.

Art under £1000 advice , by Pawel on May 15, 2018 15:10:41 GMT 1, I'd agree with buying the things that you like. If you're just start collecting, remember that your taste going to change with time. The Lichteinstein screen print at Tate looks like a decent deal for GBP 80. If it's not an investment there nice Parra open editions for €45. Someone here is selling Faile's Fashion Chimps for under 1k but framing would be quite expensive. There's a Faile release tomorrow. Much cheaper and easier to frame. My personal choice would be "Once upon a time" by Paco Pomet. I think it's still available at source for about €700.
