GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by lg2771 on Jun 23, 2018 18:52:55 GMT 1, EDIT: I DIDN'T START THIS THREAD THE GUY WHO DID WANTED OPINIONS. hi
I bought a Whatson print from a gallery who received it from gallart. There was no CoA and they said they were never given one from Gallart. I contacted them but no response. They also vastly overprice their works to a ridiculous degree. Was quoted 1950 for a Zedsy poison Apple. I’m pretty sure heller works for them so maybe he could chime in. I’m sure they mean well, but I feel there are far better galleries.

GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by campfire headphase on Jun 23, 2018 19:13:38 GMT 1, My mate is super connected. He doesn’t have to work (lucky bastard) so I think he is puttin together a large mailing list to sound the trumpet to a ton of collectors to never do business with them.
So sorry you had that experience. I’ve already received a ton of PM’s talking shit on the gallery saying how unfair they are to their clients. I’m starting to notice a trend here... wow.

I did confirm with my friend that Heller is the guy he spoke to. Jared or something like that. Yes, that’s a Gallart guy. Is he posing as a private collector on here to buy for gallery use? Should we notify the moderators? Doesn’t Silke ban galleries for doing that?
No he has a gallery designation so it’s alright. My advice would just be to stay away if you want. If not solely for their pricing. But also nearly every gallery doesn’t have the best morals. I mean galleries are businesses that make money by being vultures.

Well, they’re used to getting what they want and so they throw a tantrum from time to time - that said I take it with a grain of salt. I just wanted to see if anyone else had a good or bad experience. I live in the Orlando area and have some prints I want to sell, but not to somebuy be who is going to steam roll me.

I don't understand why you feel entitled for a gallery who didn't sell you the work to provide you with a COA on the secondary market. Plus a gallery can charge what they want its their art and they can buy and sell if for whatever they want, if you think its overpriced then don't deal with them. Pretty simple, really. I've bought and sole with them and haven't had any issues.

He wanted opinions and I gave him an opinion. An opinion can not be wrong as it is an opinion. I personally feel that a COA is something that should be included with all pieces of art, as long as it is given. And I know for a fact graffiti prints issues them.. I think that the gallery I first hand bought it from is as complete fault too, but to not give a CoA when giving art is something that the most inexperienced of galleries still manage to do, as gallart sold it to the man I bought it from, so they didn’t give him the CoA and I was the unfortunate casualty. And as for their prices I think they are indeed overpriced and I do indeed not deal with them, like you said I should.
As you seem to be a little upset by me saying these things I want you to know that I have nothing personally against Heller or the gallery. I am sure that they are incredibly nice people. Just I don’t agree with some things within their business but you can’t please everyone.

GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by campfire headphase on Jun 23, 2018 22:29:49 GMT 1, Thanks for your input. Like I said, my mate can get hot headed about things so I know he can be fussy when he buys/sells.
I’ve got nothing personal against the Gallery either and thank you for the confirmation. It’s their business, but it does leave a sour taste in the mouth when they are lowballing buyers who acquire because they love the art only to have it jacked up by people who just don’t care about it. Money is money, but I take comfort in knowing what I sell goes with the right people, not just those wanting to profiteer and take advantage of the next person who buys.

GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by heller on Aug 4, 2018 17:28:30 GMT 1, So you purchased a Martin Whatson print from another gallery, but, you are going to hold us accountable for that acquisition, not the gallery you purchased it from? Nor even name that gallery that you purchased it from? Interesting.....
I am on the forum, you can send me a message directly anytime or call|Text me anytime, 305.450.6761.
We have sold 100's of Whatson's, please let me know which print and edition number, and I will be happy to check to see if its still here, but, once a print sells to other galleries, the original COA is released with that print. Take it up with the other gallery that you dealt with, as they haven't contacted me directly, if this was a real issue, they would have.
But stop and think about what you have typed. You bought from a dealer who bought from us, but, you state our prices are high.... That doesn't seem to make much sense, as we would have profited from that dealer sale, and you would be paying much higher than if you would have purchased directly from me....
If you have inquires, its generally best, to contact to person who does the buying and selling, if your looking for the best deal, otherwise you will be dealing with sales personal who sells to a South Florida high end luxury clientele.
I do offer discounted pricing to forum members.
In regards to campfireheasphase comments, again, never have received any-type of inquiry from them either regarding purchasing or selling art, but, please feel free to message me works that you have available and I will let you know if there is any interest.
We have been buying, selling and trading Fine Art and Collections for 30 years in the same 8,000 square foot location. My door is open 365 days a year 11-8pm, come and see me if you want to speak face to face. I offer a Lifetime exchange on any work sold, I will give you exactly what you paid for any piece and apply it towards any work in our 25,000 piece inventory.

I don’t want to clog up this part of the forum, but I don’t know if you even read my post as I was stating that the price quote you gave me personally was too high. Not the price of the gallery I bought the print with no CoA from. They gave me a great price. And I also said that I didn’t place sole blame on you for not having a COA as I didn’t buy it from you. I was just surprised that you wouldn’t provide a COA with a print you sold to someone, as they bought it from you and didn’t receive it. And back to the prices, if you have to offer a discount at all to forum members I think that speaks for itself. I understand this a business though and you want as much as some shmuck is willing to pay. I don’t like or want to argue so I will leave it at that. Also, I like the play by putting your phone number as it shows you aren’t afraid to back down, but it’s probably not the best idea to put it openly on a forum.

GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by heller on Aug 4, 2018 20:30:21 GMT 1, Actually I did carefully read what you wrote, and what are are stating you said, you clearly didn't state. And If your saying that I quoted you $1950 on a Zedsy Apple in the gallery in person, in the month of June, when I have been out of the gallery for the last month and a half vacationing? I am good but that would be simply super human.
We haven't had Zedsy's Poison Apple in Stock for over a year and it sold for $500 framed.... So again your claims dont seem to be adding up.
Furthermore, you started this thread regarding a MW print that you are stating that I sold to another gallery but never released the COA? But I find it interesting that in your reply, do not mention the print, provide the title or edition number of the artwork?
So what solution are you looking for here?

The month of June never came up in my posts. I didn't start this thread, someone else did and wanted opinions then he deleted his post. I gave him opinions. I'm trying to find the other message about the CoA but am still searching. It's a Behind the Curtain edition number 60. I emailed your gallery email twice and got no response. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If we could take this to PM if you'd like to continue that would be great, although I have nothing further to say, and I really don't care about the CoA at this point. I don't want this thread to continue.

GALLART Reviews Anyone? , by heller on Aug 4, 2018 21:25:16 GMT 1, We keep track of every Whatson Edition number that comes through. Yes, I have bought and re-sold over 30% of the Behind the Curtain edition, so I can see how easy it could be for a gallery to point the finger this direction, but unfortunately, No. 60 has never passed through GallArt. Also keep in mind, we buy all of these on the secondary market from flippers just like you. Unfortunately, flippers are not always the best re-sellers and documentation doesn't always come with the print. That is why we keep track of every edition number, for our Lifetime Exchange Policy.
EB is my personal collection, not the galleries collection. For every work I buy for the gallery I try to buy one for myself, I rarely personally let works go as it is a conflict of interest with my gallery and I enjoy employment.
