Ryan Hewett ๐ฟ๐ฆ New Painting โข Print Release โข For Sale, by 11 on Apr 24, 2015 1:02:30 GMT 1, Went along to this show tonight with a few from here knowing very little about the artist or his work. As I first went in I thought it was just another series of head portraits so didn't pay too much attention (they just aren't my thing) but I have to say, once I started having a real look and studying the paintings, they were amazing.
Not even knowing the theme of the show I realised that I could actually make out recognisable political & historical figures - making the comment "I'm sure that one looks like Hitler" At which point someone pointed out the themeย  ย
The textures and depth on each piece were amazing andย quality of work was incredible, I found it fascinating that the more you studied each painting, the clearer the portrait became and what seemed to be random layers and scrapes of paint became something completely different as your eyes slowly absorbed and interpreted each layerย
I got snaps of the whole show but won't spoil it as it's definitely worth going along to see - but here's a couple of teasers - Weirdly the camera makes the portrait so much easier to make out - so go and see the show for yourself if you canย

BorntoKiln was promising some more work in the near future if he ever gets back from that remote Indian village 
And for once I beat you to the snaps Dibbs 45
So anyone get a piece from this show, or want to show off any previous Hewett pieces. If be really interested as only just found him myself and am now cramming on t'interweb
