ARTCURIAL URBAN ART AUCTION NOV. 19th, by Shoot Again on Nov 19, 2018 19:22:47 GMT 1, Someone has just bought himself a very average small DRAN cardboard - lot #42 (ironically titled "Croute") for EUR 27K (+ fees), which is just 50% more than a beautiful / larger painting on canvas (lot #35) which hammered EUR 18,500 ! I'd say the seller of that "Croute" must be WELL happy ! No idea what the buyer was thinking ?!?! ... but what do I know ;-)

Agree that the painting is beautiful!

My guess is that they both got heated and lost a bit control over their emotions. That's the beauty of the auction game though ;-)

ARTCURIAL URBAN ART AUCTION NOV. 19th, by Shoot Again on Nov 19, 2018 19:47:41 GMT 1, And just to be clear, I'm a HUGE fan of DRAN (and own quite a few pieces) so massively happy with that result (if that helps the artist, which is debatable). I just didn't expect the cardboard to be the strongest result, well above the (2) paintings on canvas (which I liked far more). Just shows one more time how much I know about art... close to nothing ! ;-)
By the way the other canvas didn't even sell, as didn't reach the lowest estimate ;-(

The auctioneer did try his best to hype it though as he presented PEZ as ยซย possibly the next Banksyย ยป ! Not sure if he did the artist any favour though as the last people who tried that trick were the carpet sellers from Walton Street (private joke - I reckon the newcomers to that Forum will have to check past Threads if they want to get that joke...) with Bambi !!! ;-)

Very cheap considering it would be more expensive to buy new works from source. The details on Pez's work are amazing.
Personally love this piece as I grew up on the Simpsons...maybe a piece geared more towards the American breatheren.

The canvas of the boy with the book was lovely!! Absolutely loved the subtlety in its execution๐๐ป

ARTCURIAL URBAN ART AUCTION NOV. 19th, by Viking Surfer on Nov 20, 2018 0:15:59 GMT 1, Dran is and always will be one of my favourite artists.
Loved the boy with the book, but just couldnโt afford it at the moment. Especially with an extra 25% on top of that 18k.
