Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by natstan on Jan 28, 2019 6:49:23 GMT 1, Wondering if any members here have a similar experience: won a bid at a good price and have the seller telling you they cannot find the item and coaxed you into agreeing to a refund (My condition being he will sell it back to me if they find it later). And months later, seller happily forgot about honoring the promise and placing it back on auction.
I can only deduce they do not want to honor the winning auction because it’s less than what they want from it. They are now telling they don’t even sell and ship to my country in the first place (mind you, it’s a highly developed country; the seller changed their shipping destinations for the current auction as soon as I emailed them, And truth be told, I have an US address too, if they wanna send it there insted.
The poster is currently at a bid which is slightly higher than what I won earlier and is ecpected to go higher in the next few days. They say they donate ten percent of the amount to charity and I even proposed I can pay an additional sum to have it donated if they would honor my earlier deal.
Just thinking if there is any recourse on my end as I have all the ebay messages between us as said above as record. Or should I just let it go? I cannot even leave a feedback now to warn other members about this seller’s practice as it’s been months since ( what a well planned move...)

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by Schrödinger's Chat on Jan 28, 2019 7:54:22 GMT 1, This has happened to me plenty of times, once I've won the auction item is then lost, damaged, the person doesn't post it, the list goes on. Plenty of dodgy sellers on ebay it goes with the territory. Until I have the item in my hand I work on the premise that anything could go wrong and so try not to get my hopes up. If you receive your money back I don't think ebay really do anything else.
I have had plenty of good deals as well but I approach every ebay deal with low expectations nowadays.

This just proves that some buyers can be as irritating as some sellers 🙄

If someone left me a negative before I had posted their item, there is no way on Earth I'd then post it to them. I'd contact ebay and say "this guy is clearly a Numpty" and ask them to remove the neg (these days they would most likely remove it, if the feedback was left before the delivery date had passed).

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by natstan on Jan 28, 2019 12:13:38 GMT 1, On hindsight, I think I was too naive to believe them. I paid fully after auction and entered into a contract with this seller. i had every right to leave him a negative review for the booboo, the reason being they are selling something which they don’t even know if they have (according to their explanation). They even went as far as to tell me their intern messed up the auction by listing it without knowing where it is in their warehouse/ inventory and was fired with immediate effect back then, lol... all that crap and I bought the story.
Now they wouldn’t even reply to my messge saying I’ve got an US address for them to ship to, ha. If you guys look for some ongoing charity art auctions with listings of jonas wood, kaws and parra posters and prints, you’ll find this seller I’m talking about. Oh yes, they say they donate 10 percent of proceeds to charity

I know it is a muted point and has nothing to do with how you've been treated but on a side point if you paid by PayPal the seller can only post to the address listed on your PayPal. Happened to me where the buyer wanted me to ship to a different address, eBay said I wouldn't be covered for a refund if I didn't send it to the listed address.

That is not an issue whatsoever as they have refunded me earlier. But if they honored their words as promised and offered to sell me the said piece now that they have supposedly ‘found’ it, i could have added in the Us address to ship to before paying.

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by natstan on Jan 28, 2019 14:07:29 GMT 1, Seller : Charity_art_auctions
They currently have a kaws original sketch up with bids on the low end. Let’s see if the bid price will eventually come up short of their expectations.

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by viz on Jan 28, 2019 14:28:05 GMT 1, Unfortunately it happened something very similar to me as well...I'm afraid it's quite common on the bay...naively I trusted the seller and didn't leave a negative feedback although I should have done it.
Feedbacks are the only way to avoid this to happen to other people (ourselves included with other sellers) and the sellers are very concerned about feedbacks as they can loose a lot of possible buyers having negative ones. Moreover they are allowed to set all the possible protections in case of sales under expectations (reserve price, starting price, etc. etc.).
Next time I will just leave a neutral/negative feedback describing exactly what happened. That's the only right thing to do.

If it is any consolation, the seller gets a black mark if they sell an item and then do not compete the transaction. This happened to me. I sold a book and then realised it was in a big pile of stuff I took down to my local charity shop a few days before.

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by Happy Shopper on Jan 28, 2019 14:55:36 GMT 1, Sometimes this sort of thing happens genuinely. I sold a record recently, packaged it up, and then left it on the bus! Luckily it was something relatively cheap!!

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by sparkplug on Jan 28, 2019 15:59:19 GMT 1, Had one a while back, still makes me laugh...
Won a print at a fair price, paid immediately, as per usual, the seller wasn't happy started messaging me all sorts of nonsense about his paypal account was frozen and I had to transfer him the cash or meet up with him with pound notes to get the print & he'd refund my paypal payment once his account was unfrozen...
Told the guy I'd just cancel the transaction, which you can do after an auction or buy now and get a full refund, however, he had already marked it as dispatched, 2am on a Saturday night (!!), which then means you as a buyer are no longer able to cancel the transaction. He's messaging me more garbage, getting threatening and sketchy AF - then tells me the courier had actually picked up the print at 1am Sat night, but he called them and they turned back and bought it back to him!! Even more jokes!
As soon as he'd messaged that I called ebay, they looked at my inbox and opened a case with 24hr resolution & I had my cashback.
The silly cnut has been re-listing the same print on his other account (p.s don't use the same pics & leave the ed number visible if you don't want to doxx yourself) for almost a year & can't shift it
OP, my advise? let it go.... let it go.... let it gooooooo there's plenty of greedy twats buying and selling online, offline, everywhere, be thankful you lost nothing

Worst auction deal with ebay seller, by natstan on Jan 29, 2019 2:45:07 GMT 1, I guess just have to let it go. Let’s see where their current auction will eventually finish at, and whether they’ll pull another stunt.
