Best way to store prints?, by Not 4 The Thril on Feb 2, 2019 5:13:53 GMT 1, Hello! Forgive me if this is already a thread- I searched through some but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I have quite a few prints and I don't have the wall space for them at the moment. I am currently keeping them in a flattened cardboard box under the bed (horrible I know).
I don't have room in my lil apartment for a storage desk- and I was wondering if anyone can recommend an a certain type of art portfolio? I have some pretty big prints around 40 inches. I was looking on Amazon but was unsure if the plastic pages on the inside would damage the print.
Is there a storage system you guys use that you can recommend to me? Also- are those types of portfolios safe for original works as well?
any info you can share is much appreciated- THANK YOU!

Best way to store prints?, by maxamaxa2 on Feb 2, 2019 21:45:42 GMT 1, this looks good for me...
Do you put the print surface directly against the plastic? No risk of sticking to it or other damages? Are they opened on two sides so its easy to slip in, no risk of bending prints in that process? Thinking of a folder instead of a plan chest to save space. How do you store the prints thats over 40โ?

Best way to store prints?, by Deleted on Feb 3, 2019 8:06:05 GMT 1, All depends on your space availability. Personally I have a flat file with 5 drawers installed into one if my closets, max size hold is 37x52. I use acid free paper in between all prints and those that do not have this treatment I have in photo sleeves. If space is an issue you can get acid free archival boxes and photo sleeves for your prints.

Best way to store prints?, by Villain Dillon on Feb 6, 2019 1:53:43 GMT 1, If prints are larger than 42" in one direction and don't fit in my flat file I wrap them in glassine, make corners for the print to slip into and tape them down. Then I flatpack them in between 2-ply cardboard. I use binder clips to keep the two pieces of cardboard together and that way you can easily undo them get to the print. Then I store them vertically in my closet so there's out of the way and in safe keeping.
