Flatfile materials, by Deleted on Apr 26, 2019 21:12:51 GMT 1, Acid free everything..if you want to take it further up a notch, buy acid free photo sleeves, they come in all sizes, i think the biggest one i've used is 27x40. They are reusable/resealable

Flatfile materials, by pada1 on Apr 27, 2019 10:43:26 GMT 1, Photo sleeves are good. However i am wondering if they donโt retain humidity that could condensate when season changes.

Thank you. How can one know for sure if something is acid free.
Wood is acid free but, is wood ok? Does it transfer smells? Does it produce mold? Any other problem?

Wood is normally not acid free, one can buffer it temporary but will become acidic again over time. Thatโs also why normal paper isnโt archival. Think basswood is ok thou if wood is needed, but not certain. Itโs tricky to know, the best is to buy materials from trusted sources whom states that the material is acid free. You can use a ph-pen to test that itโs ph neutral, only show the current state and not how it is over time thou.
This link is quite informative even thou itโs old: insidetheconservatorsstudio.blogspot.com/2013/10/what-is-acid-free.html?m=1
