Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by Jalouse Rosemont on Jun 8, 2019 14:34:56 GMT 1, ..... Here we go again.... YAWN!
(Don't you guys have anything better to do with your time except rinse and repeat the same old tired thread year after year after year that won't lead anywhere? Its June, its summer, i've got my handkerchief on my head and out to get some sun)...

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by stavi on Jun 8, 2019 14:44:19 GMT 1, Part of me would say allow it because fippers are going to flip anyways. But it is lame when I see something for sale and I know the prints haven't even shipped yet. THAT'S, too soon.
Maybe the rule should be you need the art in hand. That would add the small wait period you suggested.

Otherwise it seems incredibly difficult to police.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by clueless on Jun 8, 2019 15:40:38 GMT 1, Yes. It should be allowed. That's how this works. If I miss out on a print that I really desire to have, I'll happily be looking for flipper posts so that I can secure the print that way.

I thought this was just asking if people should be allowed to flip on this forum.. in general.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by Deleted on Jun 8, 2019 16:06:43 GMT 1, Yes. It should be allowed. That's how this works. If I miss out on a print that I really desire to have, I'll happily be looking for flipper posts so that I can secure the print that way. Question: But why do you miss out on a print?
Answer: Because all the ****ing flippers have got there before you.
The problem with buying off flippers is not only the huge mark up in price but that you are also encouraging flippers to flip more stuff in the future; which means that genuine fans can't get hold of stuff at a fair price anymore.

So, since we cannot change what is happening.. You get my drift.

If you want to do something about this, donโt buy.. itโs not going to kill you not having some uninspired print anyway. You donโt need coppers to do this.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by warwolf on Jun 8, 2019 17:27:48 GMT 1, It's a chicken and egg thing, I've seen people being called dreadful names on here for selling art for profit yet buyers are obsessed with mint/unframed prints. Anyone remember wimpeyboy? Got crucified for flipping then loads of people were happy to enter his giveaway. A bit of integrity wouldnt go amiss on here sometimes

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by Jalouse Rosemont on Jun 8, 2019 19:38:16 GMT 1, I thinking flipping shouldn't be allowed and only genuine or true fans of the said artist be allowed to purchase. How to constitute a genuine or true fan? One that has a designated ID identifiable on the verified blockchain that guarantees the said buyer to put up the bought art on the wall within 10 days of purchase and will not take it down even when the council comes knocking to demolish the said building housing the art in the event of a compulsory takeover.
Genuine or true fans or whatever the fuck you call yourselves please apply to address
5e5c15fed7f1994baeade1685829f4de05409d06654bfb55bd88706eca910d64
for a verifiable ID to be worn proudly and smack in the face of any known dastardly flipper!

The only thing I'd suggest is tagged pics or something to ensure the art is in hand.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by The Difaced Assassin on Jun 8, 2019 20:55:30 GMT 1, Obviously by canvassing the opinion of other flippers you will get the answer/justification you seek, why not ask artists or the galleries/agents that rep them for their opinion? You will probably get a different answer.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by Rouen Cathedral on Jun 9, 2019 12:15:56 GMT 1, Maybe there should be an unspoken rule that a buyer canโt buy it and if they do they get banned.
Oh right that sounds pretty ridiculous just like dying there should be an unspoken rule about posting something for sale.

Who cares? Ignore, or look on other secondary markets, especially after 3 weeks. Iโve bought a few on eBay, yes I paid more (a reasonable markup), but I got what I wanted.
Someone who flips here immediately or before in hand is the equivalent of a bird $hitting in its own nest - stupid. But enough of the namby-pamby trigger warnings - canโt take the heat, find a safe space. This is a Street art forum after all, supposedly, sometimes.

Can only limit resales , they will always happen and these guys that solely buy to sell straight on create demand for the artists

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2019 9:40:39 GMT 1, Flipping might be annoying to some, but for others it's the only way to get hold of certain pieces. Don't hate the player hate the game. If artists price their art correctly then the flippers are taken out the equation.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by The Silence on Jun 20, 2019 23:24:56 GMT 1, It's a hard one - on the one hand if people can actually flip pieces it's because there's a desire. On the other, if people know they can flip it makes it more difficult for others to buy. It's kinda like ticket touts outside concerts. If you don't have a ticket they're awesome, but annoying if they're the reason you don't have a ticket.

Flipping: Should instant for sale threads be allowed?, by glap86 on Jun 20, 2019 23:59:11 GMT 1, Let people do what they wish with the art they purchase, and let the market organically dictate whether flippers find willing and friendly buyers here.
Flippers wouldn't exist if people wouldn't pay them what they want, so I see it as a win-win. Flippers get profit, you get the piece you want.
I've never flipped a piece, but I have no qualms with the practice.

Agreed to a point - what if you donโt get a piece because you were beaten to it by a flipper? Then you have to pay more for the same thing. I donโt mind being beaten to it by someone whoโs going to love it...

Then you have to pay more for the same thing. I donโt mind being beaten to it by someone whoโs going to love it... I cared when I first began collecting, but slowly got over it. I think it's all part of an Artists life cycle. If a piece never sold for more than what it was cost, you wouldn't have artists who were successful which in turn would mean less art. I think Shephard Fairey had a good article on it, but I disagreed to a point because he was already a massive success with a clothing line that runs in parallel. I think it would be flattering as an artist to see that so many people wanted your work that it in turn it appreciated immediately, driving up future releases and becoming a sustainable career instead of just a hobby.
I will also say, it's different when someone pops up with 1 post and uses the forum as an offloading fee free platform with no contribution to this community vs someone who's been here for years and offers up insight and discussions in addition to using the sales section.
