Growing Diversity in Fashion and Art., by Daniel Silk on Jul 27, 2019 4:56:14 GMT 1, Or a Kaws Umbrella 😂 I just try to imagine the meeting with an artist when they ask him is it ok if they make Socks and Umbrellas. With products like that, do they really sell many of them? I mean does the artist really gain much out of being connected to products like that.

Growing Diversity in Fashion and Art., by 19818914 on Jul 27, 2019 5:06:55 GMT 1, I’m fine with it. If I don’t like it I just won’t buy it. As long as they keep creating beautiful art I don’t mind. But I believe too much can be a distraction from their traditional practices.

Yeah, I guess it can help raise their profile with people who don’t normally follow art.

And I think that’s good for art.

In a way, society is making artists the pinnacle of celebrity.

Corporations don't make the artists celebrities, we do.

Yeah, I think for some artists it can be a great opportunity if it’s with a big brand, getting their work seen by a much bigger audience. On the other hand many artists in this scene pin themselves strongly to political and social issues and that can make it very difficult for them to accept most business partnerships, and even more it can make the artists untouchable by a brand 😕 too risky.
